I don't know why they take these huge ships into Venice... Why can't they dock outside the lagoon, say on the lido side? Then people can take the water bus.

There is something about driving in the Netherlands, and also in Belgium that you do not find often in other countries.... people often change lanes of motorways and sometimes expect others to brake for this. Say there are four or five lorries in the right lane... a Dutch driver typically overtakes one, goes back to the right, then the next one, back to the right again, and so on. In most other places, people don't bother, they just pass all of them in one go. And if you try and pass the whole queue in one go, you sometimes get a surprise with a car popping out right in front of you, seemingly unaware of your presence or speed. The first time driving in Holland can be a bit stressful. but you get used to it.

And if you are from the UK, you find trams totally scary...

It irritates us too Manfred. Especially the changing of lanes. Many traffic jams come from changing lanes. In Belgium they call that sort of traffic jams "harmonica (accordion) traffic jams". I like that word.

We are not very polite on the road. :( I know.

And about the trams..You are right. I do not like them as well.

Look to the end of this video. That car driver had a lucky escape.
