The Regent of Aceh Angry to Trader Selling When Azaan

Let me add a translation --- Jika saya boleh, saya menambahkan terjemahan.
The District deputy of Aceh Besar Husaini A Wahab raided a number of shops and stalls that were open when the call to prayer could be heard in his area. He took the time to smash the tables and the customers ran away in panic.

The Head of Aceh Besar Public Relations and Protocol, Muhammad Basir, said that the inspection carried out by Husaini was in accordance the regent's instructions that all activities are to be stopped when the call to prayer can be heard. The raid was done by the Deputy Governor, he said, to ask for shops and stalls to close for a while.

Instruction number 1 of 2017 issued by the Regent of Aceh Besar Mawardi Ali regulates the implementation of compulsory prayers in congregation at the mosque or praying room in Aceh Besar. In this instruction, there are six points. In the first point, it was explicitly requested that all activities in Aceh Besar be stopped when the call to prayer is heard.

"Stop all activities when the call to prayer sounds and immediately perform compulsory prayers in congregation at the nearest mosque or praying room," said the first point as quoted by AFP on Friday (11/09/2018).

Furthermore, a number of points later, the regent requested that the related parties supervise and control the number one rule. The instruction was issued on July 28, 2017 and was sent to the Aceh governor, and Chair of the Aceh Besar DPRK.

After the instructions were issued, the sub-district party called at the stalls and shop owners in Aceh Besar. At present, only two sub-districts have been used as examples for implementing the rule, namely Jantho City and Seulimuem District.

"So Mr. Wabup took a look at the market just before the call to prayer. To call for a short shutdown of a stall or shop before the call to prayer five times," Basir said when asked for confirmation on Friday (11/09/2018).

According to him, the regulation does not only apply to shop owners or stalls, but all office activities must also be stopped. The employees are asked to go to the mosque or praying room to pray in congregation. Stalls or offices may be active after prayers in congregation in each mosque.

"The regulation has been in effect all this year. So the shop must close when the call to prayer is finished. After that, open it again as usual," said Basir.

Previously, Deputy Regent of Aceh Besar Husaini A Wahab turned over a number of stalls that were open during the call to prayer. He had a chance to hit the tables and the customers who were in the stall left.

In the video circulated widely, Husaini was seen coming out of the car to the rice stall that was still open. There, a number of residents were still sitting after eating. When he arrived at a stall, Husaini had hit the table with the wood he was holding. The inspection took place yesterday afternoon, Thursday (11/08/2018) in Jantho, Aceh Besar, Aceh.

I know a far better system: stop all work when the pubs open!

Yes, that is true, but it does not not apply to all shops. In Germany big shops close, but smal shops can open if they want. And is France for eample, this is not a religious thing, but a shop workers union issue.

In Italy, things are left to the individual. In Switzerland you need a permit to open on an Sunday, as you need a permit for almost anything.

In the Uk, shops are generally open, but for a shorter time.

In Russia, everything is open, but ften with less staff.

What we do not have in Western countries is people smashing up your shop if they are open at times when their religious feeling suggest they should be shut.
