Do Spirits Exist?

Atheists do not believe in god, I would like to know the view of athesists members if they believe that spirits exists? Is it possible there is an unseen non physical world out there?

Absolutely not. There are no such thing as spirits, ghosts, unseen entities.

It would be very difficult for an atheist to believe in spirits etc but not in a god. I do not believe in any paranormal beings.

I am not sure whether to believe in them or not. I would like not to believe.

Very strange stuff happened to me personally in last few weeks. Which makes me wonder.

I put my album in my drawer. After 2 days I look for it in drawer, I could not find it. I took every single thing out of the drawer to look for it, but I could not find it.
After couple of weeks I opened the drawer, and I saw that album right there on top. And I was the only one in the house during that time. So noone else could put it on top in the drawer.

Then once I bought paint and put it on the laundry room on top of my dryer or washer. Next morning I went to the laundry room but it was not there. I looked every where but could not find. I gave up. After lunch same day I went to laundry room, it was right there on top of the washer. And again that day I was the only one in the house at that time.

I still could not explain what the heck was that. And I was not drunk or anything thing either. It is just mind boggling.

there is something that I find kind of strange in the way you phrase things in this post... Your first concern was if it was appropriate for an atheist to believe in ghosts; not if they may be any or not.

This way of thinking is an echo of your past; why should you care what anybody else believes or disbelieves? You treat the label "atheist" as you treated the label "Muslim" in the past. You are iffo, the one and only, that's quite enough for anybody.

Stop worrying what other people think, make up your own mind.

Now let's look at the album and the paint. Before we resort to supernatural explanations, we should try to rule out all obvious,mundane ones. Would you agree that normally the simplest explanation is the most likely.

I often convince myself that I have put my glasses in a certain place, only to later remember, after much seaching, that I was in fact wrong.

You say you are alone in the house, and things get moved around. Well, the obvious question is, who can get and out of your house? Girlfriend? Ex-Girlfriend? Any family members from down the road? Previous lodger?

Try this: Put several smallish bank-notes on the top of the washing machine where the paint did its walk-about. Take a picture of how they look. Leave them for a few days. If they get moved around or vanish, get a locksmith and have the locks changed.

Yes I will need to rule out all the other possibilities.
I was just curious as to what others think of spirits. To me all these concepts are related to religions, once we find out these religions are bogus so do the concepts of spirits etc.

But these strange experience made me wonder if I am wrong. Even though religions are bogus, but that there might be existence of non-physical elements who are around us but we don't see them. But then how come no one could ever proved them with solid evidence.
