Pakistani-British MP offers reward for Obama's capture

LONDON: A Pakistani-origin member of the House of Lords was suspended from the Labour party after it was reported he had offered a reward of 10 million pounds for the capture of US President Barack Obama.

Nazir Ahmed -- the Lord Ahmed of Rotherham -- reportedly made the offer after the US announced a $10 million bounty for Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammed Saeed, who was blamed for orchestrating the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Ahmed described the bounty on Saeed as an "insult to all Muslims", the Daily Mail reported.

Ahmed reportedly said Obama had "challenged the dignity of the Muslim community" and said his reward also applied to Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush.

A Pakistani daily said Ahmed made the remarks in Haripur, Pakistan, last week.

"We have suspended Lord Ahmed pending investigation. If these comments are accurate, we utterly condemn these remarks which are totally unacceptable," a Labour spokesman said.

Ahmed denied offering a bounty, but said he told the meeting that Bush and former British prime minister Tony Blair should be prosecuted for war crimes.

He said from Pakistan that no one from the Labour party had contacted him before announcing the suspension.

"They have suspended me? That's a surprise to me. I did not know," he told the Daily Mail.

Asked about the comments, he said: "I never said those words. I did not offer a bounty. I said that there have been war crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan and those people who have got strong allegations against them - George W. Bush and Tony Blair - have been involved in illegal wars and should be brought to justice."

The very fact that the Brits have a muslim in the House of Lords is testimony as to how far into dhimmitude the UK has sunk.

Mind you, as I mentioned in another thread, the Brits, unlike the Americans, have not yet chosen a muslim head of governemnt.

Funny how one muslim in House of Lords puts a bounty on the head of another muslim who is a head of state. For me it's not shocking. It's a source of further amusement.

He does have a point about illegal wars though. With Iraq they had a pretext of WMD at least. With Afghanistan, they just attacked them for nothing. Some of the attackers had trained in Afghanistan in the 90s but weren't current citizens. They were all Saudis. So Saudi Arabia attacks the US and the US retaliates by attacking Afghanistan? They just blatantly attacked a foreign country because they felt like it.

My problem is not that a bunch of Arabs got killed because of this illegal military assault, it's that thousands of US citizens got killed because of it. THAT is my problem with the Afghanistan war. It hasn't made the US safer at all and cost a lot of kids their fathers. Their mothers can tell them that they died so that George Bush could fell like a man. He couldn't stand the fact that the Saudis had attacked the US and that there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it. He was pissed off though and also wanted to make himself look good with the US public so he decided he had to attack SOMEBODY Muslim somewhere in the Middle East. I guess Afghanistan was written on the piece of paper he pulled out of a hat.
