Every sect thinks that all the other sects are heretical. Every sect thinks that their particular interpretation of the Bible/Quran is the right one. Claiming that some people are Muslim and some people are not because of the sects they align themselves with, is nothing more than a no true scotsman fallacy.
Blaming one another is pointless when the religion declares in its scripture that there should be no sect. Allah founded Islam. Whoever believes in His religion is called "Muslim". It's very simple. Granted there is and will be disputes among Muslims, but we are not authorized at all to divide ourselves by inventing new names before or after "Muslim". I am a Muslim and I do not belong to any sect. Just being a Muslim isn't belonging to any sect.
