I think Sufis are great. Better than wahabis and deobandis. I just wish you guys didn't believe in Muhammad and detached from Islam completely.

Well there have been no saints throughout history if we become that critical. Religions have always been supplanted by political powers or those in authority.

But if we look past how Sufism spread and what it actually teaches..its much better than most other Islamic sects.

Sufism is touted as a peaceful version of Islam but it isn't. It still carries the same supremacist undertones, the methods may vary though.

But aren't all religions like that in general?

I think I could probably live around a Sufi openly without getting beheaded or losing a limb. Unless he suddenly decides to become a fundamentalist that is.

Sufis strive for a spirituality not found in the Quran, which is why it's best parts actually borrow from Eastern thought, since it had to because the Quran doesn't have one single spiritual bone in it's body. Anytime I ask a Muslim to give me something deep or profound from the Quran that a smart 5th grader couldn't think of, they never can, because there IS nothing deep in the Quran. It's the common sense rules from the perspective of a very questionable man, and one who didn't seem to possess any real depth.

What YOU dont realize that Mohammed pbuh is the greatest MAN that walked this earth and without him there is NO Islam.

open your eyes poeple and read the authentic hadiths!

Why do you think in this DAY AND AGE we are having christian preachers REVERT to Islam?

20 people just reverted to Islam TODAY by Bilal Philips.

Stay low in case if its an islamic state. The people who will most probably harm you going to be someone among your muslim friends and somehow jealous of you in general for anything not in particular because you left islam. Your leaving islam is the perfect opportunity for them to nail you.

According to Al Jazeera, thousands of muslims in North Africa tell allah to piss off every day.
The prophet of Islam was nothing more than a common criminal.

Please tell me if this is accurate:

I've noticed a lot of people assuring ex-muslims especially ex-muslim women that they can gain their freedom through university and finding a job. A lot of the Muslim & Ex-Muslim girls I know were not brought up to work and provide for themselves. They have been conditioned to remain dependent, have been barred from building up the resumes/cv that employers are looking for. Often these girls suffer from trauma and other health and psychological issues. I have seen girls like these be barred from University by family, prevented from acquiring certain jobs, and I have seen their progress after running away. They drop out of university because they don't have the support system needed to deal with the host of issues that they have from their previous lives. Even the smartest brightest students struggle with the demanding university course loads and to be afraid for your life and to not have been allowed downtime or free time often leads to dropping out. I don't know how to deal with this issue either but I want to call attention to it. Any Ex-Muslim attempting to run away from home like I did only gets truthful answers from me. I let them know how hard adjusting after trauma is and how difficult it is for employers to understand why you don't have an extensive resume because you were never allowed to work because you grew up in a Muslim household or why you don't use pictures on your linkendin and you don't use your legal name because you fear for your life and how your home country is infested with Al-Qaeda and you can't be public about your views because terrorist groups threaten your family back home.

There is nothing worse then subjucation of female muslims to the veil in order to tame the male ones. Maybe Islam should have imposed blinders for Muslim males instead.

yeah. One day they will burn the hijab and next day there will be a news about honor killing. So, no don't do it until you are on your own and can take care of yourself and have a good friend circle to take care of you.

haha good one! I feel people are irresponsible and giving ex-muslims bad advice. Some I've encountered are downright exploitative.

You make good points about the "new freedom". They don't really know what to do with it. I was thinking that having a boarding house for the girls at uni., with a group kitchen where they can learn how to cook and some basic skills, a study room to do homework, and tv&games room to relax in. This kind of structure offers real-world experience that I think would be extremely beneficial. Also having someone from the career centre (or student advisor) come in and give a resume and interview help session would be great too. That would help with getting a job.

Just expecting ex-muslimahs to "get a job and get to work" can-do attitude is worthless when they don't have the skills. I saw on a tv show about Yemen and how the men have to go to Saudi to get jobs, some of the women have never even left the house before, they can't even comprehend "outside".

So I've found out some resources for immigrants to Canada:

Romero House in Toronto. There are 4 houses for helping families in their first year, including legal aid, career helping, and english instruction.

Calgary Catholic Immigration Services, they offer some legal help, an airport greeter, translation services, accompaniment to doctor's appointments, and help with official documents.

Immigrant Services Calgary which has similar services to the Catholic one.

All of these are non-religious, but the Romero House is based on Christian values, and focuses on spiritual growth.

Hi dionysus, I'm sorry nobody has replied to your request. It's probably that nobody has the experience to help you - I certainly haven't but in this day and age I'm beginning to think that I might need it soon. There's a link below to a recent review of Cyber Ghost which may give you some ideas on searching the web for more details about security. I imagine a lot depends on what country you are in, and how keen your government is on spying on people.
Good luck.
