"Islamophobia" in the UK

Post by antineoETC »

'Like putting Jimmy Savile's name under a picture of the Pope'

Why? Is the Pope a child molester like Saville or at least one self-styled 'prophet" I can think of?

From above-linked article:
Mr Khan, who is the Chair of a community group called Building Bridges, said: 'I have had conversations with young people about this and they are very angry. They feel this has been done deliberately to defame Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.

'Putting name of the Prophet alongside an international terrorist is very directly connecting Islam with terrorism.
"Prophet" Muhammad said:

"I have been made victorious with terror"
(Sahih Bukhari 4.52.220)

I know. I know. Only Islamophobes take violent hadiths seriously. So here are some words of "Prophet" Muhammad speaking as "Allah" in the Quran:

"Terrorize the enemies of Allah (Quran 8.40)

London Academy of Excellence ‘stopped students praying, created climate of ["]Islamophobia["]

At the end of the the day Muslims CHOOSE to belong to a religion that requires them to pray five times a day and engage in other forms of religiously mandated behavior. Why should a school or any other secular establishment bend over backwards to accommodate Muslims' self-imposed burdens, rituals and dietary and other restrictions? Would it be reasonable for a non-Muslim to demand that a halal butcher make itself more "inclusive" by selling pork and then play the victim when that demand was understandably refused? Sometimes we all have to make a choice between following our personal beliefs/convictions and being in situations that conflict with those beliefs. A vegan, who chooses not to eat meat, has the choice of not applying for jobs in butcher shops. If they nevertheless decide to take such a job they can't reasonably expect the shop to allow them not to handle meat. Likewise, Muslims have to learn to accept that there are situations where they cannot reasonably expect free reign to follow the demands of their CHOSEN religion.

SNP action on ["]Islamophobia["] is welcome – now let's see Westminster parties follow suit

["]Islamophobic["]racism is also embedded in the UK Government's Prevent Strategy, the UK’s counter-radicalisation programme, which sees Muslim identity markers, such as growing a beard or wearing the hijab, as potential indicators of extremism....
And who but a racist phobe could imagine that under every hijab and every Muslim beard there is anything but a mind imbued unto its deepest recesses with the ideas of the European enlightenment? After all, just listen to this fellow:

Article from a few months back(January 2022) that the search engine hasn't thrown up before:

Muslims second ‘least-liked’ group in UK: Survey
“We tend to associate prejudice with ignorance, but that’s too simple. Instead, prejudice is a kind of miseducation: Many people in this country think they know what Islam is about, and what Muslims believe, in a way that they admit they don’t for other non-Christian religions
So where should "ignorant prejudiced" British people look to get educated about what Islam is about? Hmmm...

:lighten:

What about Saudi Arabia, home of the Arab News that is carrying this article? How do THEY understand Islam there? Let's see....Ah, what's this?:
Saudi court gives death penalty to man who renounced his Muslim faith.
FULL ARTICLE

I suppose, then, that the "Islamophobic prejudice'" harbored by many Brits is that Islam DOESN'T advocate killing apostates but rather has a tolerant, laid-back attitude to people leaving and criticizing the religion?

Yes...That must be it!

Thank goodness we have the example of Saudi Arabia to put them right!
