The battle of the Calais Jungle has begun: Police fire tear gas at mob of stone-throwing migrants as officials prepare to begin demolition - while another coachload of 'children' arrives in Britain

Angry migrants fired the first salvo in the battle of the Calais Jungle tonight, pelting French police with stones.

A 50-strong mob of frustrated young men threw missiles at the officers who responded with tear gas and baton charges.

The unrest comes 36 hours before the sprawling shanty town close to the Calais ferry port is cleared.

French authorities have announced they will clear all migrants out of Calais and destroy the 'Jungle' camp, starting Monday.

The group of 54 girls are the first child refugees to enter the UK from Calais under the Dubs amendment - a government pledge to help minors, reports The Observer.

The newspaper reports that the girls, most of whom are from Eritrea in Africa, were brought to the UK under the amendment - which could spark an increase in the number of young migrants coming to Britain.

Meanwhile, migrants have been encouraged to claim asylum in France. They will be processed in a nearby warehouse and sent to reception centre across the countries.

Those who refuse to claim asylum and stay in northern France risk arrest and deportation.

The police operation involving some 1,250 CRS riot police is expected to last five days.

The trouble comes after it was revealed that migrants were set to spill out into Northern France in the wake of the planned demolition of the camp.

Unofficial migrant camps without running water and toilets are expected to swell around the area after the Jungle camp is ripped to the ground next week, according to British aid volunteers.

Bulldozers will move in on the slum, with the French authorities saying the estimated 6,500 migrants camped there will be relocated, but some have already started moving on.

According to Sky News, only about 1% of those in the Jungle are Syrian. Apparently they only SEEM to be all grown men - the "children" can't be photographed without their parents' permission!!
Many of the non-Syrians, it seems, are escaping from dictatorships: so stand prepared to accept the entire populations of China and Russia, plus just about evey banana republic on the planet.
EDIT
However, according to the EXpress there are some doubts about the French Government's sincerity:
Is the Calais 'Jungle' demolition a lie? Migrant camp canteen to stay OPEN after closure

THE canteen at the Calais ‘Jungle' will remain open until the end of the year, casting doubts over the French government's promise that the camp will shut down within a fortnight.

A total of 140 workers at the venue – which serves 3,000 meals per day – have claimed they are being kept on until the end of December.

There are also reports that shipping containers have been converted into makeshift homes for migrants at the camp.

That's funny, they don't look like Syrians to me

Once these men are placed in some EU country their wives and children will follow. This means that the total number of immigrants will be far, far higher than the number of immigrants at present.

It is not even these relatively few... it is the message that their resettlement is sending to the entire African continent...

Not even one man, woman or child will fail ask this question... if they can do this, if they get help, a better life, food, housing, clothing, free schooling, then why not I?

I cannot say even that it is wrong, from their point of view, to seek a better life elsewhere. Who wouldn't if need so demanded it?

But the awful fact is we simply cannot feed and house the whole of the African continent, nor even a small fraction of it. We simply are not able to do that. So if we are sending out a message of welcome, we are deceiving people and raising expectation we could not possibly meet.

We can feed a few thousands, sure, maybe even a million or more, but not tens or hundreds of millions of people. In trying we will utterly destroy our own civilisation. The money we spend on these people will be out of the same funds our governments use to fund the education of our children, the care of our sick, vulnerable and old. In addition we are depriving the in any case poor African nations of their most valuable asset, their youth.

I think all of these men need to be assessed if any have a genuine asylum claim. Most will not. So, these need to be returned to their places of origin.

Tonight on the Sky News press reports they say that 1 in 4 UK councils is refusing to take "refugees" from Calais. They seemed to be unsure whether these were children or not, evidently unaware that the "Dubs Amendment" that lands the responsibility on local councils relates only to "unaccompanied" "children" who have no connection with this country.
I usually enjoy this programme on a Monday evening, with Kevin McGuire of the Daily Mirror sparring with his counterpart from the Daily Mail. Tonight, though, the Mail's man was absent, replaced by some awful left-wing woman I know not from where: because I turned the TV off without finding out, when McGuire started talking of English people in the towns rejecting "refugees" as "wearing white hoods and carrying burning crosses". These left-wingers have no sense of shame, it would appear.

Subsequent to my rant last night, I tuned into BBC radio instead. There I was told that according to the Guardian (I think it was) we are missing a golden opportunity by not accepting as many of these children as possible. They are, it said, destined to be our doctors, engineers and lawyers of the future, if only we grab them while we can. More lawyers I think we can do without anyway, but why do we need these children when, allegedly, Europe is being flooded with fully qualified adult immigrant members of these professions? Would we not be luring these brilliant children into a life of over-qualification and under-employment such as the adults are leaving behind, only to reproduce here? Or are these hyper-qualified immigrant adults just a myth after all?

If that is true, those "children" are needed in their own countries , because England can easily provide for their own doctors, engineers and lawyers of the future.

Maybe, but will they have the politically correct views that may well be a requirement for those professions by the time these children have grown up? These children could pretty well be guaranteed to toe the Cultural Marxist line - and vote Labour. Moreover, any problem with exams could easily be fixed, as we've seen.

It is a sad story for the goodmensch and the No Borther, No Brains folks, that migrants are chased away from the jungle.

A news paper in Holland shows us this picture. The caption of this picture says....."A 16 years old migrant from Ethiopia cries when he leaves the camp."

No, it is a reputable although very left wing Dutch paper. There is never a nice word for Geert Wilders, or Trump since this paper was taken over by a liberal Belgian owner.

Some years ago, I had a a subscription of this paper, but not any more. Until now they call me a couple of times a year and ask me if I want to renew my subscription, and every time I tell them I don't like their paper any more, because I want uncolored news.

I looked this picture up, and I see they have changed the text under the picture into "Een migrant uit Ethiopië huilt terwijl hij het kamp verlaat". A migrant from Ethiopia cries when he leaves the camp

I guess they got so many comments .

Could it be some quirk of the Islamic calendar? Maybe they only count years when Ramadan fits its name by fallng during the hottest weather?
