Military Aged Males are considered enemy combatants. Effectively that means all males ages 18-49 are considered enemy combatants. Since you're guilty by association, your age makes you a target. You are conflating what the US considers enemies before targeting and after a strike.
An enemy combatant is a person who, either lawfully or unlawfully, directly engages in hostilities for an enemy state or non-state actor in an armed conflict.

7 in 10 Austrians: “Islam is not compatible with the West”

A new study out of the University of Salzburg has revealed that seven out of ten Austrians believe that Islam isn’t compatible with the Western world.

The university study, which surveyed 1,200 people, discovered that an overwhelming majority of population are greatly worried about the effect Islam is having on Austria, with 80 percent of those surveyed saying that they wanted Muslims to be monitored more closely, Austra’s leading newspaper Kronen Zeitung reports.

Of those who participated in the survey, 72 percent said that Muslims were not a cultural asset to the country. Half of the participants said they wouldn’t object to policies that would restrict Muslims’ ability to practice religion, while nearly just as many said the mosques in Austria shouldn’t be tolerated at all.

59 percent of participants said that they feared Muslims living in Austria are terrorists.

Last month, Austria’s domestic intelligence agency, the Office for Protection of the Constitution (BVT), released a report which stated that radical Islamic terrorism is still the most pressing security issue in the country, with returned ISIS fighters being a primary concern.

The report also mentioned that at least 93 ‘Austrian citizens’ who left the country to fight for ISIS in the Middle East had returned to Austria.

Wolfgang Aschauer, the author of the study, claimed that the results suggest that participants were under-emphasizing what he called ‘the complexity of Islam’. He also claimed that most Muslims in Austria are trying to integrate.

The president of the Islamic Religious Community, Ümit Vural, blames politics for rejection of Muslims by the vast majority of Austrians.

Early this year, a physician and former MP from Austrian People’s Party told an Austrian television station that Austrian girls having to wear headscarves to prevent street harassment and assault by male Muslim migrants. This is a clear indication that Muslims aren’t assimilating to Austrian culture, but that Austrians – in their own country – are being forced to assimilate to Islamic culture.

Austria: Afghan migrant arrested for stabbing asylum center worker and elderly farmer to death

A military-aged Afghan migrant has been arrested for murdering a 32-year-old asylum center social worker and 63-year-old farmer, Austrian police say.

The 33-year-old Afghan ‘asylum seeker’, whose name hasn’t yet to be released by Austrian authorities, is currently under investigation on suspicion of two counts of murders, the Associated Press reports.

It’s said that on Monday, the Afghan migrant attacked the social worker employed his asylum center with a knife over a dispute about a job at the migrant shelter in Wullowitz, close to the border with the Czech Republic. The social worker reportedly died after he sustained severe injuries from being stabbed multiple times.

Those that came to the social worker’s aid are also said to have suffered serious injuries after the Afghan attacked them as well. The attacker, who then fled the scene of the heinous murder, then allegedly murdered a 62-year-old farmer before he stole his vehicle.

Shortly after the suspect was arrested in the close by city of Linz, in Upper Austria.

According to authorities, the Afghan migrant had first come to Austria in 2015 before having his request for asylum rejected. When the murders took place, his appeal against the rejection was currently pending.

In August, another migrant from Afghanistan was arrested by authorities for trying to burn down the office of Austria’s national populist Freedom Party (FPÖ).

Austria jails imam and three other men for Isis recruitment

An imam and three other men have been locked up by an Austrian court for running a religious group that recruited young men for Isis.

The court in Graz, the capital of Styria state, sentenced the imam to seven years in jail.

The three men received six-year, five-year and five-month suspended jail terms for their links to Isis in Syria.

Two other men were tried but acquitted.

All of the accused were born in Turkey and were found to be involved with the group founded by the 47-year-old imam, who has denied radicalizing young men to recruit them for Isis.

The others accused have also maintained their innocence, and the verdicts can be appealed.

Like other European countries, Austria saw a wave of people – many of them minors and some young women – leave the country to join Isis in Syria and Iraq.

In 2016, a Muslim preacher known as Ebu Tejma at the centre of an Austrian jihad propaganda network was sentenced to 20 years in jail for "brainwashing" dozens of people aged between 14 and 30.

Austrian authorities prevent series of planned Christmas Market attacks

By ARTHUR LYONS

The Austrian police have arrested three men who had allegedly planned to carry out a series of Christmas Market attacks in various European countries.

A 24-year-old man and two of his alleged accomplices have been arrested for allegedly planning to carry out multiple terrorist attacks on Christmas Markets across Europe, Zeit Online reports.

The three men are believed to have been planning several terrorist attacks in Europe. The 24-year-old, who has a criminal record for his membership in a terrorist organization, allegedly first wanted to escape from prison and then wanted to bomb a Christmas market in Vienna. After that, he planned to carry out deadly attacks in Salzburg, Germany, France, and Luxembourg.

The primary suspect has since been transferred to a maximum-security prison. He is said to have been in regular contact with the two other suspects via cell phone, despite cell phones being banned at prisons in Austria. The two alleged accomplices, men aged 25 and 31, have been arrested by Austrian authorities for planning to help the main suspect escape from prison.

The 25-year-old suspect had made a fake Romanian passport for the 24-year-old. It remains unclear as to whether the two suspects, who weren’t in prison at the time, also helped the primary suspect to plan the attacks.

The suspects’ lawyers have confirmed the allegations and admit that their clients were in contact with the 24-year-old prisoner who had allegedly been planning the Christmas Market attack in Vienna. However, the lawyers contend that their clients’ conversations with the primary suspect were entirely private and that the two knew nothing about his plans to attack the Christmas Market.

What a stupid decision
Austria court strikes down law aimed at cutting benefits for immigrants

Austria's constitutional court on Tuesday overturned key provisions of a law passed by the previous right-wing coalition government, including benefit cuts aimed at immigrants.

In its judgement the court said that the requirement in the law for claimants to prove proficiency in German or English was unconstitutional.

The law had foreseen a cut of 300 euros ($334) in benefits -- from the normal minimum of 863 euros -- for those with insufficient German or English.

The court similarly found against a provision which curtailed payments to families the more children they had, saying it "disadvantaged families with multiple children in a way which is not objectively justifiable and unconstitutional".

The cuts could lead to "the necessary living conditions for families with multiple children not being guaranteed", the court said.

Church groups and anti-poverty groups had criticised the measures when the previous government put them forward last year.

That administration was a coalition of the centre-right People's Party (OeVP) and far-right Freedom Party (FPOe), both of which had made a crackdown on immigration one of their key messages.

That government collapsed in May over a corruption scandal that engulfed the FPOe and led to new elections in September.

The OeVP is currently negotiating with the Greens to form a new coalition.

Tuesday's decision comes only days after the constitutional court struck down another law passed by the OeVP-FPOe government, which would have enabled surveillance of encrypted message

Austria is experiencing rapid demographic changes, with almost one in four people in Austria now of foreign origin, according to the APA agency. Over the last ten years, the foreign share in the total population has increased by more than a third.

Currently, 2.07 million people living in the country came to Austria or were born to immigrants out of an overall population of 8.8 million, according to Echo24.

The share of people with an immigrant background has increased by about 35 percent since 2010. That is primarily due to the migration wave in 2015 when Austria provided protection to approximately 118,000 migrants. To put this into perspective, that equates to more people than the number of citizens in Austria's sixth-largest city, Klagenfurt.
Army should guard Austria's border with Czechia and Slovakia, says right-wing Freedom Party

Austria's army should guard the southern border that the country shares with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and also provide guarantees that no police stations will close in the region, according to a proposal from the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).

The FPÖ is currently looking to work on a deal with the turquoise-green government program at a meeting in Langenlois in the Krems district.

"What will happen in Lower Austria is difficult to say," reported the regional party chairman, Udo Landbauer, who criticized the vagueness and insufficient security provisions in the new border plan, according to Noen.at.

Illegal migration remains one of the most important issues as the number of newly arriving migrants is not decreasing, but on the contrary, it continues to grow.

"By the beginning of February, there were already more than 380 attacks by illegal immigrants in Lower Austria," said Landbauer and gave examples from the Bruck and Mistelbach districts.

To prevent this from happening, Landbauer calls for the armed forces to work as an assistance based on the Burgenland model. According to the FPÖ boss, the border with the Czech Republic and Slovakia should be monitored in cooperation with the police.

The responsibility of Austrian soldiers should include preventing migrants from crossing the border, and in the case that they cross, they should be involved in identifying and detaining migrants and then handing them over to the police.

“It must be clear to all smugglers and promoters of illegal migration that their schemes end at the border with Lower Austria,” said Landbauer, who sees the assistance mission as an effective and meaningful task for military service.

He noted that "440 soldiers are deployed in neighboring Burgenland, 220 of whom are basic military servants", and emphasized that this would also be feasible for all of Lower Austria.

At the same time, the FPÖ demands a so-called security guarantee. The party wants to demand confirmation that no police stations in Lower Austria will be closed.

In addition, an evaluation should show where additional police posts near crime hotspots would be necessary. Landbauer also wants a location guarantee for barracks.

"We will discuss it with the state parliament and give the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) the opportunity to decide on this security guarantee for Lower Austria together with us.

"The barracks are also necessary in the event of a blackout,“ added Landbauer.

Vienna attack: Several feared dead in 'terrorist' shooting

At least one person has been killed and several more are feared dead after shootings in central Vienna, the city's police say.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called it a "repulsive terror attack" and said one attacker was killed.

A number of suspects armed with rifles launched the assault in six locations, police said.

A large-scale security operation is ongoing as police hunt the attackers.

A number of people, including passers-by, have been taken to hospital with several reported to be seriously injured, Austrian broadcaster ORF reports.

Among the injured was a police officer.

What do we know about the attack?
Police said the incident began at the Seitenstettengasse synagogue, which is the main temple in Vienna.

Jewish community leader Oskar Deutsch tweeted that the synagogue was closed at the time the attack began at 20:00 (19:00 GMT).

An officer guarding the synagogue was injured, newspaper Kronen Zeitung reported.

Footage posted on social media showed people running as what was reported to be gunshots could be heard.

Police have urged people to avoid the area and not to take public transport. Road blocks have been set up around the city centre.

"It sounded like firecrackers, then we realised it was shots," said one eyewitness quoted by public broadcaster ORF, according to AFP news agency.

Police in neighbouring Czech Republic said they were carrying out checks on passengers and vehicles crossing between the two countries as a preventative measure.

What has the reaction been?
On Twitter, Mr Kurz said: "Our police will act decisively against the perpetrators of this hideous terrorist attack.... We will never allow ourselves to be intimidated by terrorism."

image captionA number of people have been taken to hospital, some with serious injuries
European leaders have strongly condemned the attack, with French President Emmanuel Macron saying that Europe must not "give up" in the face of attacks.

"We the French people share the shock and grief of the Austrian people, struck this evening by an attack in the heart of their capital, Vienna. After France, a friend of ours is attacked. This is our Europe. Our enemies must know who they are dealing with," he said.

Three people died in a knife attack in a church in the French city of Nice last week in what Mr Macron said was an "Islamist terrorist attack".

European Council President Charles Michel called it a cowardly act that violated life and human values.

We are in shock’: Austrian capital reels after gunmen kill at least four

Vienna had until now been spared the sort of major Islamist terrorist attacks that have hit other European countries

Music lovers were enjoying an opera, with young people in bars raising a final glass together before a new coronavirus lockdown, when gunmen suddenly opened fire in Vienna, brutally shattering the calm of the Austrian capital late Monday night.

At least four people were killed, with several wounded, when attackers opened fire in six central locations — including one near a synagogue — at around 8 p.m. local time.

Witnesses said they saw a man shoot “like crazy” with what appeared to be an automatic weapon, before police arrived and opened fire.

“They looked like firecrackers, then we realized that they were gunshots,” said one witness on public broadcaster ORF.

With one assailant shot dead, the city’s mayor urged people to remain indoors as police said a huge manhunt was underway for one of the attackers.

‘We are in shock’
Vienna had until now been spared the sort of major attacks that have hit other European countries, with France experiencing two terror attacks only last month.

“We are dealing with a terror attack the severity of which, thank God, we have not experienced in Austria in many years,” the city’s mayor Michael Ludwig said at press conference early Tuesday.

“At the beginning, I thought to myself that maybe we were making an American film or that they had drunk too much,” said waiter Jimmy Eroglu, 42.

But then he heard shots. “The police came in and said, ‘you all have to stay inside because there’s a probably a dead man there.'”

Vienna’s police repeatedly urged residents to shelter in place as the manhunt got underway, with helicopters sweeping the skies above the city and officers hastily erecting cordons on streets that only hours earlier were thronged with people enjoying a last drink before lockdown.

Robert Schneider, who lives in central Vienna, left his house briefly and found two lasers trained on his chest.

“Hands up, take off your jacket,” officers shouted at him, the 39-year-old told AFP. “We had seen nothing, heard nothing. We are in shock.”

Gernot Gruber, 25, said he initially thought the sounds were fireworks set off by people ahead of the lockdown.

“If you hear these noises in Austria you don’t think they’re gunshots, you really don’t,” he told the Guardian newspaper.

Gruber, en route to the Hard Rock cafe around the corner from one of the sites of the attacks, said he had heard about similar incidents in other countries.

“But I’ve never been close to one. It was really frightening,” he said.

When news of this atrocity started filtering through I did not automatically assume that it was a jihad attack, as the apparent targeting of a synagog raised the possibility of GENUINE neo-Nazi perpetration.

Leftist thinking is now so warped and addled that I am sure leftists, eager to seize any opportunity to work themselves up into a Frenzy over 'Islamophobia", were sorely disappointed when it turned out that Muslims were once again the perpetrators rather than the victims.

Investigations in Austria – authorities had important information before the terrorist attack in Vienna

The police headquarters in Bratislava wrote on Facebook: «The Slovak police received information in the summer that suspicious persons from Austria were trying to buy ammunition in Slovakia. But they did not succeed in realizing the purchase. ” The information was immediately forwarded to the police in Austria.

THEN WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT INFORMATION? HOW CAN IT BE THAT THE MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR DID NOT ACT IMMEDIATELY?

One does not want to give further information in order not to endanger the investigations in Austria. The opposition SPÖ then asked the Vienna Interior Ministry to clarify what happened to this information – and why the Interior Minister had not acted.

In response to the terrorist attack, the National Council will hold a special session this Thursday. Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer and Justice Minister Alma Zadič want to make statements.

Typically weasel-worded article from the UK's premier ISLAM-WHITEWASHING publication.

From above-linked article:
While many leaders abroad have condemned the terrorist attacks in Europe, rhetoric from some in the wake of Mr Paty’s murder has dangerously fostered the perception that Islam itself is under attack.
If Muslims absurdly "perceive" that, following ACTUAL lethal physical attacks by Muslim terrorists on innocent non-Muslims, it is actually their RELIGION that is the thing under "attack" then that is THEIR problem, the solution to which is for them to stop so "perceiving" things.
Jihadist groups have seized upon Mr Paty’s killing and the row over the cartoons more generally to incite hatred and violence
Therefore what? Mr Paty shouldn't have provided jihadists with the "opportunity" to "incite hatred and violence" by showing cartoons to his non-Muslim students and foolishly getting himself decapitated? That does seem to be the long and short if it.
Monday’s attack on Kabul University, in which 22 students were slain and as many wounded by Isis-affiliated gunmen – the second killing of Afghan students in less than a fortnight – is a potent reminder that most victims of Islamist terrorism worldwide are Muslims.
A debatable assertion considering the thousands of Christians murdered by jihadists over the past few decades. If it is true it is because the "Islamists"

a) do not view their Muhammadan victims as fellow believers but as munafiqun (hypocrites) and kuffar (disbelievers) and therefore Islamically valid targets for jihad terror. Nothing new there.

b) do not presently have the ability to slaughter European and other non-Muhammadan's in the vast numbers they would like.
