Netherlands: Geert Wilders to PM Rutte: You have imported a monster called Islam into our country!

“So it’s not just a few rotten apples who make other Muslims look bad...This is large majority of 700,000 [out of 900,000] who reject our free society.” said Wilders

Geert Wilders, the leader of the populist Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Netherlands, slammed liberal Prime Minister Rutte during a recent debate over freedom of expression in the Dutch parliament, saying that his pro-mass migration policies have allowed for the importation of a “monster called Islam into our country.”

The words from parliamentary leader of PVV in the Dutch House of Representatives come weeks after the spate of deadly Islamic terror attacks in Austria and France, including the beheading of Samuel Paty — a French history teacher who showed a picture of the Islamic prophet Muhammad during a lesson on freedom of expression in his class.

Before addressing Dutch prime minister directly, Wilders opened up the debate by recounting the Islamic attacks and threats that have occurred in recent weeks. The right-wing populist leader also commented on Amsterdam imam Yassin Elforkani, who late last month called on Dutch lawmakers to adopt legislation that would criminalize any insult aimed at the Islamic prophet.

Imam Ismail Abou Soumayyah, a known Salafist extremist of the Quba mosque in The Hague, recently launched a petition which calls on the Dutch government to adopt Sharia blasphemy laws. The petition has reached well over the 40,000 signatures required which can, in theory, force a debate in the House of Representatives.

During his address, Wilders refuted claims often parroted by liberal politicians like Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, that only a small minority of Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands and Europe support terrorism and reject secular democracy.
  • “So it’s not just a few rotten apples who make other Muslims look bad,” Wilders began. “I say to the prime minister, stop pushing this nonsense fairy tale. This is large majority of 700,000 [out of 900,000] who reject our free society.”

“And you, mister prime minister, have imported a monster called Islam into our country, which has put our country in danger,” Wilders continued.

In order to remedy the current situation, which Wilders sees as the largest existential threat to Dutch society, he implored Dutch lawmakers enact his simple five-point plan.

Wilders’ plan includes recognizing Islam as a violent ideology, closing the borders to migrants from Islamic countries and reintroducing Schengen border checks, dismantling Islamic institutions, locking up or deporting jihadist sympathizers and Islamists who threaten or use violence, and having schools and media companies show Muhammad cartoons without fear of retaliation.

According to Wilders, this plan would be enacted “not to provoke, but to show that we never give in to threats and violence, and that we proudly support our freedoms.”

“Speaker, to wrap up, I have a message for all the Muslims in the Netherlands who do not respect our freedom, our democracy, and our core values, who find the rules of the Quran more important than our secular laws.”

“Get out! Leave for an Islamic country. Then you can enjoy Islamic rules. Those are their rules, but not ours. This is our country. Not your country, but our country. This is the Netherlands.”

Of course. "Netherlands" is just a name that some kafirs have given to a part of Allah's earth they are temporarily occupying and defiling with their filthy unIslamuc ways until it is, Insha Allah, restored to its rightful custodians , the Muslims.

This is a very common problem that muslims are not greatfull that they are living in west instead of their rotten poor backward countries. I know many many people who do this back stabbing .
Its just a muslim thing , Chinese will not do it, maxicans will not do it, Indians will not do it.
I don't know how muslims are making into Europe , whether coming illegally or legally. If legally then European leaders should come to their senses before it's too late. Stop legal immigration of muslims period. Its not time to be nice and please others but being real .

Many iffo. Illegally and legally. De door to Europe is open to anyone who wants to come in. And if they are in, they are seldom being send home. Moroccan young men who illegally come here, have very high crime rates

Muslims infiltrate in our government like this lady, Kauthar Bouchallikht, who was welcomed with open arms in the green Dutch party. Kauthar Bouchallikht is the daughter of Mostapha Bouchallikht, one of the most important leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Netherlands.

So our European leaders won't be any help to us to stop the Islamisation of Europe.

The generosity, broad-mindedness and religious tolerance as the bed-rock virtues of Hindu polity proved ominous for the people of Kashmir. The outside refugees, who had sought and were provided shelter in the country, became ambitious of grabbing the throne of Kashmir with the sheer design of transforming the entire religious profile of Kashmir. These outsiders included proselytisers masquerading as sufis obliged to flee their lands under severe threats of torture and persecution were totally responsible for creating conditions in the region of Kashmir leading to torture, severe pains and woeful miseries to be inflicted on the Kashmirian Hindus in the name of God and Islamic religion

Syrian war criminals living in Netherlands as refugees

Thousands of Syrians have resettled in the Netherlands Dozens of suspected Syrian war criminals may be living incognito in the Netherlands after slipping out of the country at the height of the civil war, according to an investigation by NRC.

The newspaper reported that three associates of President Bashar Al-Assad’s regime who had been granted asylum by the immigration service (IND) had been implicated by other refugees in war crimes.

Under Article 1F of the Geneva Convention, a country can refuse asylum if there are ‘serious reasons for considering’ that the person making the request has committed war crimes or crimes against humanity.

However, at the peak of the civil war in 2015 so many refugees were fleeing into Europe that members of the ‘shabiha’ – loyalists to the Assad regime who arrested, tortured, raped and murdered its political opponents on an industrial scale – were able to cross the border undetected. ‘They are the casual workers of the war machine,’ Ugur Üngör, a professor of genocide studies attached to the Dutch Institute for War Documentation (NIOD), told NRC. ‘They can be engaged as a kind of civil guard, an armed civilian unit for repressing dissidents.’ Üngör pointed out another reason why the war criminals were able to slip in under the radar.

‘All the debate [at the time] was about jihadists in the stream of refugees. I sat watching with suppressed rage, because the part played by the regime in the destruction of Syrian society is so much greater.’

Syrians in Drenthe NRC spoke to two Syrians living in the same unnamed village in Drenthe – Raid Sadek, who fled with his family in 2015 after claiming to have been arrested and tortured by Assad’s security services, and a one-armed man named as Bashar. Shortly after arriving in the Netherlands Sadek was told by Syrian community groups that Bashar had worked for the Syrian military intelligence unit 215, which specialised in torturing prisoners on an industrial scale and was shown photographs of Bashar in combat fatigues.

Bashar told the newspaper he had worked as a chauffeur for a rich, well-connected car dealer and was given a uniform of unit 215 so he could pass through government checkpoints.

But Sadek’s story was corroborated by other witnesses to the conflict whose testimonies were collected by the Paris-based human rights lawyer Mazen Darwish. They said Bashar had worked closely with a lieutenant-colonel in the security services and lost his arm in a road accident in one of the lieutenant-colonel’s vehicles.

NRC also said a Palestinian man from Homs, named as Yassin, now living in a Noord-Holland town, recruited child soldiers for the pro-Assad militia Liwa al-Quds (the ‘Jerusalem Brigade’), and a former checkpoint guard in Damascus, named as Amer, was living in a village in Gelderland. Cases reviewed The IND has a special 1F unit, set up in 1997 after news magazine Vrij Nederland revealed that many former members of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan were living in the Netherlands as refugees, to the horror of legitimate Afghan refugees who recognised them in their neighbourhoods.

Last year the 1F unit reviewed the files of all 12,750 Syrian men aged between 17 and 35 who arrived in the Netherlands between 17 and 35. Deputy justice minister Ankie Broekers-Knol said in June that the exercise had identified only one case in which there was enough evidence to rescind a Syrian national’s residence permit. The Netherlands is also the first country to bring a case against the Syrian government for ‘gross human rights violations’ under the 2004 UN Convention against Torture, whose signatories include Syria.

Foreign affairs minister Stef Blok said in September: ‘If we don’t take the first step, nothing will ever happen. We have an obligation to the victims and must show the world that we will not stand by and let this happen.’

I don't think so. I get the impression from Dutch papers that those "refugees" , who are being called by other refugees..."the shabiha"..., are part of The Army of Assad.

What I don't understand is, why should a supporter of Assad flee to Holland. :clueless:

But what news do you expect from Dutch newspapers who all were/are very anti Assad and from a Dutch government who supported the the Syrian "moderate opposition"

Dutch government faces outcry over reported support for Syrian rebels

Netherlands allegedly assisted a rebel group which prosecutors had labelled a 'terrorist' organisation

The Dutch government faced a storm of protest from lawmakers on Monday after a news report said it supported a Syrian opposition group which Dutch prosecutors had labelled a "terrorist" organisation.

Parliamentarians demanded answers after the report aired by the national public broadcaster said the Netherlands gave "non-lethal assistance" (NLA) to 22 armed opposition groups battling Syrian government forces.

The television programme, which worked together with the respected Trouw newspaper, identified one group as Jabhat al-Shamiya, which it said had been supplied with pick-up trucks, uniforms and other equipment last year.

But at the same time, Dutch officials in the port city of Rotterdam were prosecuting a suspected militant for belonging to Jabhat al-Shamiya, which they labelled in court papers as a "Salafist and jihadist movement striving for a caliphate".

It was nothing more than a "criminal organisation with a terrorist aim", the prosecutors added in the court papers.

Jabhat al-Shamiya, also known as the Levant Front, is an umbrella group for Turkey-backed rebel fighters based in northern Syria. In 2016, Amnesty International accused it of carrying out summary executions and establishing courts that enforce a strict Islamic-based penal code.

Monday's revelations come days after Dutch foreign minister Stef Blok's announcement that the government was cutting all support to "moderate" opposition groups.

"Resulting from the regime's reclamation of large parts of Syria and the shrinking space for moderate opposition, cabinet has decided... to stop the NLA programme," Blok said in a letter sent to parliament on Friday.

But politicians, both from the opposition and from parties in Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's ruling coalition, said they demanded clarity.

"This (news report) screams for an answer," Christian Democratic Appeal party MP Pieter Omtzigt told AFP late on Monday.

He said he and fellow Christian Democratic Appeal lawmaker Martijn van Helvert have asked cabinet on numerous occasions to explain the Netherlands' position.

Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, MP for the progressive D66 party, described the report as "shocking".

"How did this happen, despite all the warnings by lawmakers?" he told the ANP national news service.

Omtzigt said the cabinet was bound to a deadline on Tuesday in which it had to provide answers.

Our PM Mark Rutte does not want to talk of it.
A new chapter in the scandals of the Netherlands’s involvement in supporting terrorist organizations in Syria is unfolding in front of the world public opinion after Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has recently admitted that he personally intervened to obstruct parliamentary investigations into his government’s provision of millions of dollars to terrorists, which shows the blatant hypocrisy in the policies of the Netherlands and the West regarding the allegations of fighting terrorism and protecting human rights.

The new development in the Dutch scandals file came after Rutte had been forced a few days ago to admit that he had obstructed the investigations by a fact-finding committee formed at the Dutch Parliament two years ago after Dutch media published files revealing the Dutch government’s involvement in supporting terrorists in Syria over several years and supplying them with technical equipment, especially for communication, military and logistical equipment, and hundreds of trucks and various vehicles.

At the time, the Dutch investigators did not reach any conclusion due to Rutte obstruction of the work of this committee and his deliberate concealment of secrets that prove his direct involvement with terrorists and his flagrant violation of the international and Dutch laws as the organizations that he supports financially and logistically in Syria are classified as terrorist organizations by the Dutch Public Prosecution itself.

The Parliamentary Investigation Committee was formed in the Netherlands after two media outlets revealed in a special documentary in 2017 the Dutch government’s support for about 22 terrorist groups, including the so-called “Levantine Front” organization, which is classified as terrorist even by Dutch institutions.

Rutte’s obstruction of the investigations has been met with great indignation by the Dutch people, as the media there has focused on his government’s involvement in providing millions of dollars, foodstuffs, medicines and telecommunication equipment to terrorists, while Dutch and European parties started to raise this issue at the public opinion platforms, calling for transparency and the truth while wondering about the benefit of democracy if it is not reflected on the ethical dimensions of the international policies.

The Dutch support for armed terrorist groups has continued throughout the years of the war on Syria, despite the pledges of the Amsterdam government :no1: to its parliament that only the organizations it described as “moderate” would receive support in harmony with the hypocrisy adopted by the United States of America, which has always claimed that it provides support and training to those whom it describes as “moderate opposition”, but later many reports have refuted these claims and confirmed that “Washington’s moderates” are nothing but terrorists who joined the ranks of terrorist organizations, including al Qaeda and Daesh “ISIS”.

The Dutch government has claimed that the reason behind its illegal interference to obstruct the investigations into the scandal is that the investigation would lead to the disclosure of secret information, in addition to exposing the alleged international coalition which had been formed under the pretext of fighting Daesh “ISIS” and the crimes committed by the Western states which are members of this coalition against Syrian civilians and the Syrian infrastructure under the pretense of fighting terrorism, while the facts on the ground confirm the involvement of this coalition in protecting Daesh.

The Netherlands, which is on the top of the European countries that export terrorists to Syria and Iraq, and the Dutch government’s support for terrorist organizations in the context of its submission to the American decision, makes it the last to have the right to talk about democracy and human rights in Syria or elsewhere and its government should be held accountable at the International Court of Justice.
 BTW. We don't have a Amsterdam government. The Hague is the Dutch seat of government.
Ter information....Amsterdam is not even een city, but a village. It never had city rights.

Are any of these anti-Assad "refugees" from areas previously under ISIS control? I am talking about people who showed no particular inclination to take "refuge" in the west when ISIS was on the ascendancy, murdering, raping and selling captive women and girls their slave markets. An RT report a while back stated that 80% of Sunni families in ISIS-controlled areas had members working for the depraved jihadists.

Some are, and some are not. I know a Syrian who is from Damascus, he says he was a teacher in Syria but now he has no job and he does not speak our language. I think he and his family can beter return to Damascus because he is more of use in his own country.

Lots of "Dutch" Isis women are returning to Holland , and the judges here are very lenient for those jihadi brides. Een few months in prison and that is all. Although some of those women were very cruel to Yezidi women we learn from Yezidi girls who are now in Holland.

Is he pro or anti Assad? If the latter, what would he replace Assad with? Democracy? We see time and again what replaces quasi-secular strongmen in Muslim countries when the opportunity presents itself. In Egypt the population democratically voted in the Muslim brotherhood after the "Arab Spring" there!

From ARTICLE ON MAIN SITE:
As many as 10,000 women and girls were forced into sexual slavery by the Islamic State. Of notable mention, is the account of Layla Talu, who had been betrayed by her neighbors as they told the Islamic jihadists where she had fled with her family.
The problem then is not just returning Dutch citizens but Syrian Muslims who actively aided ISIS or tacitly supported them. You do not want such people in your country on the false premise that they are "victims" of Assad

As we all know, Turks are not so friendly to the Iraqi Kurds, so the police don't have to look far to find the culprits. .
Netherlands: Three Polish Supermarkets Bombed in Two Days

People inspect the debris after an explosion in Aalsmeer, near Amsterdam, Netherlands, in the early hours of Tuesday morning Dec. 8, 2020. Two Polish supermarkets in the Netherlands were badly damaged by explosions Tuesday but no injuries were reported police said.

Netherlands (AP) – An explosion damaged a Polish supermarket in a Dutch town near Amsterdam early Wednesday morning, the third such blast in two days.

Police said the explosion happened at a store in the town of Beverwijk, 30 kilometers (18 miles) northwest of Amsterdam. Nobody was injured, but the store was badly damaged in the explosion at 5:15 a.m. (0415 GMT).

Dutch media reported that the owner of the store also owns another Polish supermarket in Aalsmeer that was gutted by an explosion and fire early Tuesday. The same night, another explosion hit a Polish supermarket in the southern town of Heeswijk-Dinther.

Police are investigating the blasts and have not revealed a possible motive.

All three stores were called Biedronka, but are not part of a large network of budget stores of the same name in Poland.

A longread about our PM Mark Rutte and the mistakes he made

The latest evasions and cover-ups by Western governments over their funding of terrorist groups in Syria are starting to unravel

Evidence of Dutch and British funding for extremists who’ve beheaded children & carried out ethnic-cleansing grows by the day. Yet most of the mainstream media – including the BBC – still try to keep this truth silent.

Recently, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte effectively blocked a Parliamentary motion to allow an external independent investigation of Dutch government funding of terrorist groups in Syria.

Rutte initially tried to deny his involvement in the burial of the investigation but tenacious questioning from journalists forced him to admit his personal interference. According to Rutte, such an investigation could result in “tensions with our allies [...] the lives of former members of opposition groups could be put at stake.”

Rutte’s protection of illegal armed groups wreaking havoc in Syria are reminiscent of the UK Government’s response to similar Parliamentary questions requesting clarity on the armed groups supported by its Foreign Office (UK FCO). The standard line is, “for security reasons, we do not disclose the names of those moderate opposition groups supported.”

This article will demonstrate that Rutte is very probably preventing tensions with the UK by quashing an investigation, and that the “moderate opposition” promoted by both governments actually consist of savage, extremist gangs who think nothing of conducting ethnic cleansing pogroms in Syria.

Turning ‘non-lethal aid’ into deadly weapons
In 2018, Dutch officials were accused of providing equipment to terrorist groups in Syria. Equipment that included Toyota and Isuzu trucks that were, probably, later converted into machine-gun carriers by groups such as Jabhat al-Shamiya, considered a “Salafist” group by the Dutch Prosecution Service. This equipment was euphemistically described as non-lethal aid, a convenient caveat for governments ensuring the armed groups are given the means to recast this ‘aid’ into military hardware.

Dutch journalist Eric Van Den Beek has followed this affair from the outset. He wrote recently: “It's a mystery why the Dutch Public Prosecution Office still has not launched a criminal investigation against current and former political officials who were involved in the support of Jabhat al-Shamiya.”

In October 2020, Dutch media reported that a former leader of a terrorist group operating in Syria had been receiving funding from the Dutch Foreign Ministry for years. The group, Ahrar Al Sham, was designated a terrorist organisation by the Dutch Court in 2019.

It is worth noting that Ahrar Al Sham merged with Nour Al Din Zinki in 2018, to form the “Syrian Liberation Front.” Zinki had been formerly funded as “moderates” by the US, but this aid was withdrawn after the group tortured and beheaded a 12-year-old boy, Abdullah Issa, in Al Ansari square, Aleppo in July 2016.

White Helmets soaked in blood
Incidentally, the square where this heinous crime took place was only 200 meters from the White Helmet center that featured in the Oscar-nominated promotional movie for the FCO-midwived, terrorist-linked organisation, “Last Men in Aleppo.” The Dutch government only withdrew funding from the White Helmets in 2018, citing lack of assurances that funds would not be funneled to terrorist groups in Syria. Up until this point, the Netherlands had given the White Helmets $14.5 million.

It was Dutch media that broke the story of the suspected involvement of the White Helmets founder, James Le Mesurier, in defrauding Mayday Rescue – the organisation Le Mesurier established to siphon UK and EU funding to his organisation.

The BBC has recently produced a 15-part radio documentary ‘probe’ into the Le Mesurier fraud allegation and the White Helmets. The “Mayday” series, produced by Chloe Hadjimatheou, turned out to be nothing more than an attempt to smear and discredit researchers, academics, scientists and journalists whose work has exposed the White Helmets to be an armed-group-auxiliary, an extension of power for the UK/US-led regime-change coalition, whose failed agenda is the removal of the Syrian government and President Bashar Assad.

Rutte’s denial of a rigorous and transparent investigation into Dutch sponsorship of terrorist groups in Syria is likely to be connected to the BBC-Mayday series and the FCO’s support for sectarian armed groups in Syria as part of an externally managed “political process.” A recent leak of FCO documents has revealed the extent to which the British government and intelligence agencies have been involved in extensive public relations and media operations to clean up the image of bands of war-crime-committing extremist groups.

This context is important to understand why the alleged financial support provided to the leader of Ahrar Al Sham by the Dutch Foreign Ministry, is very likely connected to the UK efforts to create a vast complex of PR and media back-up for these mercenary armed groups in Syria.

The ex-UK student turned fundraiser for Islamism
The former “foreign affairs minister” of Ahrar Al Sham is a UK-educated, Spanish-Syrian called Labib Al Nahhas. Dutch media has reported that documents show that the country awarded two million euros in subsidies to the European Institute of Peace (EIP), based in Brussels. Much of this funding went on to the Syrian Association for Citizens’ Dignity (SACD). Al Nahhas is the program director and he, personally, receives 700 euros per day, for an average of more than ten days per month as a senior consultant for EIP. This funding covers 2018-2021.

A recent article by journalist Kit Klarenberg revealed the role that Le Mesurier’s widow, Emma Winberg, played in the PR support for Syrian armed groups. Winberg was co-founder of Incostrat, a FCO-outreach agency funded by the Conflict Stability and Security Fund that also finances Mayday Rescue and the White Helmets. The BBC, curiously, made no mention of Winberg’s involvement in what is effectively a clandestine black-op run by the British government in an effort to destabilise Syria and to effect “regime change.”

Among the groups believed to be provided with PR and media support via Incostrat, are Jaish Al Islam, and, according to French journalist Thierry Meyssan, Ahrar Al Sham. In 2016, The Guardian ran a story on an “ex-UK student clock[ing] up air miles on mission to rebrand Syrian Islamists” (emphasis added). The Guardian admits that Ahrar Al Sham had fought in alliance with Nusra Front (Al Qaeda in Syria) and that their goal was to establish an Islamist theocracy in Syria. The Guardian also reports that one of the original leaders of AS had “personal connections with Osama Bin Laden.”

Al Nahhas had deep connections to the US, EU and UK, where he had established a tech company in a West London suburb. IKPA Communications Ltd was set up in October 2012 and apparently liquidated in 2014. Two other directors were named at Company House, Labib Shalak and Swedish-born UK resident, John Carl Gandeborn. This background builds the picture of someone who would be an ideal candidate for the UK FCO-sponsored agencies to promote as an acceptable frontman of an unacceptably sectarian, brutal armed group.

Al Nahhas resigned as director of his tech company in April 2014, the same year he joined Liwa al-Haq, a faction that merged with Ahrar Al Sham in late 2014. Al Nahhas was appointed Ahrar Al Sham’s “foreign minister” after the assassination of the majority of the armed group’s leaders in September 2014. This event is recorded in the leaked FCO documents, in a submission by Analysis Research and Knowledge (ARK) for the “Rapid Response” contract. ARK was also responsible for the creation of the White Helmets in Turkey and Jordan in 2013, with James Le Mesurier at the helm while an employee of ARK.

Turning a blind eye to outrages
Immediately after the largely unexplained assassination of Ahrar Al Sham leaders, Al Nahhas was despatched on a mission to secure US/UK/EU support for the armed group, visiting Western diplomats and publishing “opinion pieces” in the Washington Post and the Telegraph that called on the West to “engage with Ahrar Al Sham”. Former US Ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford, accused by Syrian officials of fomenting the armed uprising in 2011, joined the campaign (in 2015) to whitewash Ahrar Al Sham and to distance them from their alliance with Nusra Front.

The access and UK/US state-aligned-media support given to Al Nahhas and the timing of his moves to join armed groups fighting on behalf of the US Coalition in Syria, must lead to speculation that his role was managed by entities like Incosrat with the backing of the FCO and intelligence agencies. Ahrar Al Sham did not cease their ethnic cleansing atrocities in Syria despite the elevation of the group to “political process” status. In May 2016, just before Nour Al Din Zinki beheaded Abdullah Issa, Ahrar Al Sham and Nusra Front carried out the massacre of Syrian Alawite civilians in Zara, in the Aleppo governorate. The UK and US still refused to bow to pressure from Russia to designate Ahrar Al Sham a terrorist group.

Ahrar Al Sham’s involvement with the BBC dates back to the 2013 BBC Panorama report, “Saving Syria’s Children,” when the armed group escorted the BBC production team during the fabrication of what is suspected to be an elaborate hoax based on the forensic analysis of independent researcher Robert Stuart.

As late as 2017, it was reported that Kenan Al Nahhas, Labib’s brother, was appointed the new “political” leader of Ahrar Al Sham. At this time, the group was participating in the brutal siege and daily targeting of Shia Muslim Syrian civilians in the villages of Kafarya and Foua in Idlib. Ahrar Al Sham was also present, with Nusra Front, in Rashideen, Aleppo, in April 2017, when a terrorist suicide car attack massacred recently evacuated children and families from Kafarya and Foua.

The western campaign to rebrand and decriminalise this armed group continued unaffected by the war crimes they were systematically committing against the Syrian people. An opinion piece by Al Nahhas was published by The Guardian in February 2020. The Guardian has also been instrumental in maintaining the criminalisation of the Syrian government, an effort designed to corroborate the FCO’s “regime change” policy. The Guardian was drafted in to posthumously rebrand James Le Mesurier as a “mainstream saint” and was heavily involved in the White Hemet PR industry, alongside the BBC and Channel 4.

Al Nahhas allegedly distanced himself from Ahrar Al Sham in November 2016, but his brother stepped up to lead the armed group. While the Dutch officials involved in the financial sponsorship of a terrorist group profess ignorance of this, opposition members of Parliament say this suggests a lack of robust screening of recipients of government funding. This, combined with the 2018 revelations of the funding of Jabhat Al Shamiya, paint a damning picture of Dutch government involvement in the promotion and material support for violent, criminal armed groups involved in ten years of bloodshed in Syria.

In a curious turn of fate, Chloe Hadjimatheou, the producer of the BBC “Mayday” series, had been “the driving engine” behind a King’s College London, War Department, paper, entitled “The New Jihadism: A Global Snapshot”. The paper concluded that Ahrar Al Sham should be placed alongside Nusra Front and ISIS as a “Salafist,” in other words, a terrorist organisation operating in Syria.

Hadjimatheou refused to answer when asked if she subscribed to the view that the organisation that collaborated closely with the BBC Panorama team was deemed to be a terrorist group. It seems that the promoters, financiers and supporters of terrorism in Syria are not too keen to own up to their involvement in sustaining the illegal war against the Syrian people for ten years.

Covid: Police and protesters clash during Dutch curfew demo

Riot police in the Netherlands have clashed with protesters angry at new coronavirus restrictions.

Officers used water cannon and tear gas to clear demonstrators in Eindhoven. They had gathered in defiance of a new 21:00 (20:00 GMT) curfew.

Some protesters threw fireworks, looted supermarkets and smashed shop windows. There were smaller demonstrations in the capital, Amsterdam.

More than 100 people have been arrested.

Some of the demonstrators threw fireworks and grabbed bicycles to build barricades against the police, who eventually used tear gas to clear the streets.

A Covid-19 testing centre was also set alight on Saturday evening in the northern village of Urk, local authorities said.

"The fire in a screening centre in Urk goes beyond all limits," Health Minister Hugo de Jonge said.

The 21:00 to 04:30 curfew, enforced on Saturday, is the first in the Netherlands since World War II. Violators face a €95 (£84) fine.
  • Restrictions were delayed - now the backlash

Burning bikes were built into barricades, supermarkets looted.

In Eindhoven, golf balls and fireworks were hurled at police in full riot gear, who eventually used tear gas to clear the crowds.

The scenes of violent unrest spread across the country: Amsterdam, Tilburg and Enschede, where young men threw stones at a hospital and torched a Covid testing centre.

National Security Council Chairman Hubert Bruls said that, while he understood the protesters' frustrations, the more the Dutch persevere now, the sooner they can get their freedoms back. He labelled those involved in the violence not demonstrators, but "corona hooligans".

Actually many see vaccines as the key, and the Netherlands is lagging behind there - last in the EU to roll out its vaccine programme, to date 77,000 people have been given their first dose.

At the start of the outbreak, the Dutch government resisted measures like masks and curfews, telling Dutch citizens they were sensible, rule-abiding and didn't need to be treated like children.

That sense of exceptionalism has come back to haunt them. Almost a year on, some people are struggling to do the mental pivot required to accept that the Netherlands has been forced to introduce draconian measures it initially dismissed.

The curfew was passed in parliament on Thursday, albeit with a slightly later start time than the proposed 20:30.

The country's bars and restaurants have been shut since October, while schools and non-essential shops closed last month.

A ban on flights from the UK, South Africa and South America has been put in place due to fears over new variants of the virus.

There have been more than 944,000 cases and 13,646 confirmed deaths from Covid-19 in the Netherlands

Unrest erupts in Dutch cities for third night in a row in pushback against Covid curbs

Anti-lockdown riots have broken out for the third consecutive night in the Netherlands, with fires lit, police vehicles burned, and windows smashed. Police have vowed to crack down on the lawlessness.

Hours after Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte condemned two days of anti-lockdown riots as “criminal violence” and vowed to keep a controversial curfew in place, disgruntled citizens took to the streets again for another night of mayhem.

Masses of black-clad rioters assembled in the streets of Rotterdam on Monday, as fires were set and police vehicles vandalized.

As video footage showing a gang of rioters smashing the windows of a police van spread around the internet, right-wing politician Geert Wilders demanded that the government “deploy the army and clear our streets.”

Armored police faced off with rioters and arsonists in The Hague, Den Bosch, Haarlem, and reportedly in other cities throughout the country.

More than 200 people were arrested during Sunday night’s unrest, and police issued a warning on Monday to would-be rioters. “Tonight we will be back on the streets to enforce curfew,” they tweeted. “If you deliberately do not obey it and you commit or call for criminal offenses, please know that we can arrest you for this later.”

The police added that video footage would be used to identify and arrest anyone breaking the law.
