any comment from Muslims?

I have an Indonesian acquaintance who lives not far from me, with his wife and his two kids. He is a Muslim, but really more of a "paper-Muslim". They are a nice family, and sometimes the boy called here to get help with homework.

But this is about the the mother of the man, living in Indonesia. This old lady lives only with her husband who has severe Parkinson's disease, and is in need of 24 hour care. He is incontinent, cannot really walk, and he seems to have also some memory problems. His speech is slurred and hard to understand.

She is all alone looking after him, and the old couple rely on their son in London to provide everything they need as they have no pension. There is one other son, currently in prison from drug offences (smoking some herbal cigarettes. I understand...), and a daughter, who lives far away and has no money.

I suggested that the two old people should be brought to live here, so that they can be looked after, but my friend said "My mother and my dad hate England and see it as an evil corrupt place. They also hate the cold weather. They would never come here." But my friend cannot return to Indonesia as he would have no job and he is too old to be offered a job there.

Sometimes, when my friend does not answer his phone, I am the "emergency contact". I once had to organise an ambulance for the old man after he fell down the stairs.... Would you believe it, the old lady said, "I don't know how to do that, my husband normally does things like that." Yesterday her electric token had run out, so they had no electricity. I told her that she can buy a code at any corner shop, type it in at the meter, and all is working again. "But I have nobody to take me...." My eyes started rolling and I almost said something sarcastic.
I ended up buying an electricity token over the internet, and phoned her through the number to type into the meter. And that was tricky too, but we got it done in the end.

They used to have a neighbour who helped from time to time, but they have moved away, and the new neighbours are Hindus, and the old lady does not like them.

What I would like to know is.... who would disenfranchise a woman to this extent? She is entirely unable to look after herself, not because she has any handicap or is too frail, but the obstacles to every day functioning are entirely in her head, and entirely based on religious conditioning.

Does this not make you both sad and angry?

The thing is.... she is a perfectly capable woman, she is not daft, she is quite strong, and yet she cannot do the simplest thing without a man. What sort of life is that?

To be honest, I have a hunch that the family here in England is not overly keen to have them living with them... but I have no proof of that.

So it is all an act by the old lady purely to get an electricity token out of me (which her son re-reimbursed...)?

Really?

You have failed to understand the mentality of another countries and other ethnicities, especially your mother's side.

It is not about a country or ethnicity at all. It is not the country that makes this woman act like a helpless child. It is her religion. She does only leave the house as far as her husband can see her, unless she has an "escort".

Manfred!!!!!! One more time I need to take you to "Task".
SAM is right. we have failed to understand. But never fail to see what eyes see. He is telling you the Naked truth - literally :lotpot: .

When he talks about "Understanding mentality"he means those wet dreams which every average Muslim-man has - he really means this:

And this

Too tight down there.
