A question for crazy canuck/idesigner1

coconut breaking in Hindu temples as can be seen from the above video was once really the breaking open of human head skull at a time when human sacrifice was still in vogue amongst Hindus. You said that it along with animal sacrifice was done away with and was replaced by symbolic sacrifices/offerings of coconuts, fruits etc mainly due to the influence of philosophies of Buddhism and Jainism

So going by such interpretation, does it mean that pouring the valuable red kum kum flower solution on the idol(shown in the above video) as on today in a great majority of Hindu temples actually implied pouring the valuable blood of a human sacrifice victim in antiquity per anthropology?
Llinguistically Dravidian states of India watered by non-perennial rivers and with far greater chances of famine are taxed 2 to 3 times more than other states.Yet B.J.P leaders maintain that they treat all states equally.Elections with E.V.Ms=>ample scope for tampering,so ballot papers are a must

One person from a scientific discipline said in the old forum that both Hinduism and Christianity are based on the theory of trans-substitution.So are the offerings offered or received from Hindu deities also mean something else in reality?

In the old forum, people said that muslims in India throw a cow's head into a temple and in retaliation,Hindus throw the pig's head into the mosque and thus begin endless rioting. However I have seen Hindu deities being presented in a funny way in many films.Noone rioted. No one became a cry baby.

If the theory of trans-substitution is indeed true, then there indeed in no reason to riot when a living being is chopped off and thrown into holy places. That is what I intended to say.

I can't think what the words might be for whatever supernatural things might happen to those body parts, but it isn't trans-substantiation. Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a book - I think The Synthetic Men of Mars - where body parts were brewed in a vat to make new Martians. Maybe he had a word for it? (I remember the lurid picture on the cover of the local library's copy to this day!)

Perhaps it is substitutory sacrifice or substitutionary sacrifice.

blood offerings are a taboo in modern Hindu society that places preferences on veggism of the Buddhists and Jains post the Vedic era, however it seems no religious Hindu had rioted when the film people accurately depicted the blood offerings in the Vedic fashion to Hindu goddess Kali as had been shown in the short video link given below.Perhaps it is because they all know that in the bronze and tribal stages of almost all cultures on earth ,including those of Aryan society, blood sacrifices were universal.

Now I see blood sacrifices in Hinduism being mostly offered to goddesses and not gods.My theory goes this way.Since a woman is naturally weak and becomes even more weak due to blood loss during menses, she needs to be replenished constantly with iron rich diet. Now after the population of an area reaches saturation in accordance with the theory of Malthus, after reaching a certain point, she will face iron deficiency and will not be in a position to bear any more children. If she tries to bear them with such a deficiency, she will lose her life during pregnancy. My mother too was about to be infused with blood at the time of my birth.Else she has to abort the child which is seen by the pious as mother killing and eating children.

Since human beings have always believed in the existence of gods or demons above them, they were always offering blood sacrifices even those of humans be it is the sacrifice of travellers to goddess Kali by Thugs or Suttee sacrifice.

Only Swami Vivekanand (among reformists) admitted animal sacrifices of bygone ages. He told people that modern day hindus should not eat meat beacuse the belief had changed.

Well actually many Hindu seers as on today wear slippers made of wood and not leather. To show that they stay away from ritually impure leather products.

However in the Purana stories,we come across not just God Shiva but many other sages being seated on the soft cushiony leather of dead forest animals.Even today Shiva's pictures potray him as being covered in animal skin and seated on animal skins. This once again shows that prior to the influence of Buddhism and Jainism, animal slaughtering could have happened and could not have been considered religiously and ritually impure.
