BJP is a party dedicated to keeping Hindus and India in backwardness. (McDonalds in India not allowed to have beef or pork or its byproducts in their menu. Hamburghers with no beef! BBG, when will you start wearing modern dress?
For someone who thinks hindu women used to wear salwar suits during medieval times, what can be said about what is modern and what is not? So i will once again let that question pass.
Salwar kammeeze is a medieval Muslim dress, so why would a Hindu wear that today? When educated women like you start wearing modern dress, as Japanese and Chinese do, then Indian would truly begin to become modern.

What can i say, i am speechless at the demonstration of such profound wisdom

I also ponder on this question very often, and feel it reflects more on the 'wisdom of Indian voters', which has not yet attained full maturity. One can see, P Chidambaram has lost...inspite giving outstanding performance in the portfolios held by him. :( In spite of these lacuna, Indian voters have displayed much more wisdom than previous occassions to teach pefect lessons to the usless Commies & corrupt people likes the Paswans etc. :D

Had I enetered in the BJP state office after 2000, I would have surely recieved a thrashing only by RSS/ VHP/BD goons instead of any discussions. Wheras in 1995-97, there was no threat to me in telling what I feel about BJP or RSS to the top leaders of Bihar BJP. They were really more humble & sincere in those days than the leaders of other Parties.

Yes, i too think, more than a congress win or bjp loss, this election will be remembered for the rout of stubborn communists and corrupt politicians like paswan, laloo and amar singh, people will be saved the spectacle of their ugly bargaining and blackmailing tactics.

Still wish BJP had been the beneficiery of their rout in stead of congress! We would then have been saved the spectacle of a timid PM too.

BJP is still the second biggest party after Congress. Which means BJP also represent a national Character only just next to Congress.

Not only the BJP, but Congress also must do better in future to become truly representative of our National identity & character, which has been threatened by these corrupt regional cheiftains in past 2 decades only.

I wish Congress & the BJP must share nearly 500 seats between them out of 540 in next election, so that Indians can be fully assured about the future of India. I feel India is preparing for this objective only. Besides ensuring the victory of Congress, these election results also redressed my concern on the issue of regional parties & corrupt politicians to some extent.

dear BBG., i have written many time questioning you and some time supporting your views. Tell me what did India's Prime Minster did to you or your country people to deserve to be called as an "Idiot" by you. I think he is a great guy to represent India Inside the country and as well outside the country

Manmohan Singh is a disgrace, someone who can not gather enough courage to face people even in a single lok sabha constituency has beome the representative of a billion people through back door,

That is an interesting point, I didn't know that, It is surprising he didn't contest elections or could not win elections in India yet can become Prime Minister of India. Anyways, but I can say this safely., that HE IS NOT DISGRACE to represent India.
Dr. Manmohan Singh (born 26 September 1932) is the seventeenth and current Prime Minister of the Republic of India. He also served as the Union Minister for Finance, succeeded by P. Chidambaram.[1] He was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985 and held the post of the Finance Minister of India from 1991 to 1996 under Narsimha Rao-led government. Singh belongs to the Indian National Congress party and took oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 22, 2004, becoming the first Sikh to hold the post, as well as the first to govern from the Rajya Sabha. In the 2009 general elections, he made history as the first Prime Minister since Nehru to return to power for a second term after completing a full five year term.

An economist by profession, Singh has previously worked at organizations like the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations. During his tenure as the Finance Minister, he was widely credited for initiating economic reforms in India in 1991 which resulted in the end of the infamous Licence Raj system.[2] He went to Punjab University to study Economics and attained his bachelor's and master's degree in 1952 and 1954 respectively, standing first throughout his academic career. He went on to read for the Economics Tripos at Cambridge University as a member of St John's College. (In the Oxbridge tradition, holders of the BA degree with honours are entitled in due course to an MA degree.) He won the Wright's Prize for distinguished performance in 1955 and 1957. He was also one of the few recipients of the Wrenbury scholarship. In 1962, Singh completed his D.Phil from the University of Oxford where he was a member of Nuffield College. The title of his doctoral thesis was "India’s export performance, 1951-1960, export prospects and policy implications", and his thesis supervisor was Dr I M D Little. From this thesis he published the book "India’s Export Trends and Prospects for Self-Sustained Growth".[3]

In 1997, the University of Alberta presented him with an Honorary Doctor of Laws. The University of Oxford awarded him an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree in June 2005, and in October 2006, the University of Cambridge followed with the same honour. St John's College further honored him by naming a PhD Scholarship after him, the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship...
As far as becoming a Prime Minister of India without winning an election., that is an interesting democratic way of selecting Head of State., I think it is not right., And Indians should have had common sense to put that in to its constitution., I am curious why when other parties(NOT Indain national Congress) was in power they didn't try to amend its constitution is mind boggling.,

In any case., I do respect your freedom to air whatever you like, But if I were you I would refrain saying " that idiot manmohan singh"., unless you prove that he was/is indeed an IDIOT and did some idiotic things..

with best regards

Indian Elections ., That is what Indian News papers says ., Says BBC.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8054122.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
TIMES OF INDIA

With great power comes great responsibility. The people of India have reposed their faith in the Congress, the Gandhis and Manmohan Singh. The party and its leaders can do one of two things: become complacent, even arrogant, and abuse the mandate they have been entrusted with: or they can carry this enormous burden of expectation with humility and honesty and deliver on their promise of a better tomorrow.

HINDUSTAN TIMES

The choices provided by the flotsam of the Third and Fourth Fronts have been exposed for what they were; at best, professional nay-sayers; at worst, fly-by-night operators. But with the [ruling] UPA [coalition] now without albatrosses like the Left around its neck, we expect the Congress-led government to press its foot more firmly on the gas of reforms.

THE ASIAN AGE

The clear storyline of this election is the ignominious defeat of the Left and the drubbing of the BJP-led Right. There can be no ambiguity that people are asking them probing questions about their role in national affairs. It should indeed be a surprise if the organisational structures of these formations do not feel the impact of this.

THE HINDU

Verdict 2009 gives little scope for the smaller parties or groupings to engage in back-room negotiations to decide the shape of the next government. The Congress holds all the aces. The prime ministership will not be up for bargaining, as some of the smaller parties were hoping.

The principal opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, needed to expand beyond its core support base to get ahead of Congress. This it was unable to do.

THE SUNDAY EXPRESS

India's voters have refuted the theory that there is nothing that unites them at Lok Sabha (India's lower house) time, that we are moving away from a time of national swings towards a naturally fractured polity. The numbers will be crunched for weeks, but in the Congress-led coalition's unexpectedly strong showing from Assam to Rajasthan to Tamil Nadu, there is clear evidence that a truly national politics is within grasp again.

You are so correct in reading MMS, but unfortunately most educated Indians fails in reading him or appreciating him. Without saying much I only wish such "educated Indians" can definitely benefit from the wisdom of the "uneducated Indians" living in the Indian villages

In the infamous state like Bihar, not a single criminal succeded in entering to Parliament this time. Although JD(U)-BJP alliance sweeped the poll in the entire state (32 out of 40 seats), but voters have not shown a little mercy towards their 3-4 candiadtes, who had little tainted backgrounds. All of them lost, and some them to Independent candiates even. Winning of an Independent candiadate is most difficult in Parliamentary elections. But voters did not obliged any dubious candidates, even if he was fielded by the winning combinations of that particular state.

You asked a brilliant point, my Dear yeezevee, but Indian Media was so enamoured by their "Hindu Rhetoric" that such questions were never put up by them to the leaders of BJP.

Indian voters does not simply care for media, whenever media opts for doing propaganda in favor of one side by ignoring the credentials & achievements of the other side.

The wisdom I see is that Indians like you are mentally incapable of digesting such things. Hindus adopted this medieval Muslim dress code Salwar Kammeze because it wraps so much of their body, as their culture wraps so much of their life. I have said in this forum that: "What one wears outside is a reflection of what one wears inside. It is a projection of how one thinks. If subcontinentals wear medieval dress they also have a medieval mindset." In this world, apart from Hindus only Muslims exhibit such an addiction to their culture.

I know you keep harping that Hinduism is all about spirituality and wisdom, and not about anything else. Hindus in this forum also keep saying they had abandoned Manu smrithi, they accuse being a product of some mad Brahmin, and later taken up by the British to beat up Hindus. Who do you think would believe such things? There would be more believers if you have added that that is the Hinduism of your dreams, or that is what you want Hinduism to be.

Even to a casual visitor to India, it becomes quickly obvious that Hinduism is very different from what you said. All he has to do is to go to a McDonalds and order a Hamburgher. He would get one, but no beef! (BTW India is the only country in the world where McDonalds is NOT allowed to serve beef!). Then there are stories of foreign tourists being harassed for public displays of affection, and all the other stuff I have already written. Hindus seem to be dismissive of such things and become annoyed when such items are brought up. They seem impervious to the fact that such behaviors are products their religious culture, and hindering progress to modernity. There seems to an irrational pride, and out of touch with reality here.

Hinduism before Islam and Christianity came into being and reached sub-continent allowed dancing half-naked(as you had acknowledged in Ekalavya's thread). There are sculptures that show kings enjoy sensuous dancing of tribals.

I saw a T.V programme featuring Ron Hembre and Janice Hembre of Canada. In that program, they were asked by a believer whether dancing in a socialising pub is un-Christian as a friend of her said. The answer was that it depends on how they danced. If indeed they danced sensuosly,it is a sin and un-Christian.Christian missionaries also banned dancing of one particular tribal women before chiefs of another tribe in tribal belt of Jharkhand in India.

And I have read somewhere else that Muslims began to cover up their women with veil after observing how Christian women of Orthodox Church covered up their women completely.

So indications are that the more you get exposed to absolute morality religions as Jerry put it,the more you cover-up your women. This is a natural trend.

palli or halli in Dravidian languages means a village just like gaav in Aryan languages means a village.palli or halli in Aryan Mauryan Imperial era around 200 B.C designates a tribal hamlet. So many of those in South India are indeed descendants of tribals and are still keeping up that heritage.

The discussions on Manu Smiriti only provided me an opportunity to peep into your mind. I can see thru your whole caliber & agenda. I can only say you have gone MAD in your love for your dear Manu Smiriti, which is dead now, and can not be revived to give a life to my Dear Yohan.

May be everyone except a few Islamists, Zionists or a Christian Zealot like you, becoz they do not want to believe in anything except their morbid beliefs.
Yohan wrote:There would be more believers if you have added that that is the Hinduism of your dreams, or that is what you want Hinduism to be.
I just enjoy the Hindu way of life, and feel Christians & Buddhist can also enjoy similarly their way of life becoz core of their belief systems are also based on spirituality only. I don't know what Christians means by the words like "holy Spirit etc", but to me Jesus Christ was an embodiment of Love only. Love means the most important constituent of spirituaity, in the same manner like "Hate" forms the basis for "terrorism". This can also be summarised as under:

LOVE : Hate :: Spirituality : Terrorism.

I find no difference the basic tenets of Hinduism, Christianity & Buddhism becoz they are essentially based on love i.e.Spirituality only. Followers of these Phil have also deviated a lil-bit in past but they could never subvert the basic tenets or basic chraracter of these 3 philosophies. If Christianity deviated, then "state" became independent of "church". If Hinduism was hijacked by Brahminists sometimes, then Rama, Krishna, Adi Sankara, Ravidas, Nanak, Tulsidas, Meerabai, DayaNanda, Vivekananda, Gandhi etc brought it back to the tracks. Buddhism also passed thru many kind of ups & downs before settling down forever in the spiritual conepts laid by Buddha.

You may look at Jesus Christ as the only savior, while I see him like an incarnation in the series of Rama, Krishna or Buddha.

But the things are very different with Islam & Judaism. Islam is based on Terrorism, while Judaism seems to be just Racism.

Why do you want to believe blindly any kind of wrong picturisation of India, and do not want to trust the debates you held with me for so many days? Is it not something wrong with you also? I don't believe into concept of racial superiority of any kind( Indian/ Foreigner), therefore evaluate the opinion of anyone on the basis of merit of their logic & argument only.

However, I feel fault may lie lie on both the sides.Foreigner's opinion can also be biased due to very obvious reasons. The pereceptions of visitors may also be wrong sometimes, when they have illusions like India, Hinduism & Hindus of India are synonymous.

Many people finds lot of solace in the spiritual legacy of India. Many towns of wretched North India, like Varanasi & Rishikesh-Haridwar & Gaya always remain full of Foreign visitors throuhout the year becoz Foreigners find lot of spiritual solace by staying there for months even sometimes. I also wonder, why they like a place like Varanasi & Gaya so much but their liking for India for spirtual reasons is very obvious.

Let me say once again that Indias (Hindus) are very diversified people. When one think Hinduism & Hindus of India are synonymous then he is grossly mistaken...and you think Hinduism is synonymous with RSS. Why it is not possible that RSS has opted for grossly anti-Hinduism under the garb of Hinduism to pursue their vested interests & heinous agenda. But what happened finally. Even I did not imagined this kind of fate of BJP, although I always refuted their claims & credentials. They get exposed ultimately, and Hindus of india repose their faith in a REAL HINDU like SONIA GANDHI, who was born as a Christian in Rome, and REAL HINDU like MANMOHAN SINGH, who was born into a Sikh family, which migrated to India from Pakistan. These people represent the legacy of a real Hindu icon Gandhi.

Hinduism is not a "Property" of Hindus of India even, then what to think of the likes of RSS claims on it...Christianity can't be subverted or enslaved by the powerful office of the Pope, becoz these are the spiritual philosophies & legacies. But the doctrines like Islam can be misinterpreted by any Mulla-vulla living in the caves by issuing a FATWA. Similarly the Doctrines of Marx were manipulated by the Stalin & Mao to suit their purpose. Yesterday Kerala & Bengal voters annihilated Indian Stalins & Maos in absolutely non-violent manner.Doctrines have no relevance now.

Your annoyed sarcasms tells volumes about your baseless Hindu pride. Salwar kammeeze and Sari are traditional dresses. People can wear such dresses for traditional functions, and so on, but NOT for work or as business attire. When a people do not that, that is a sign that they have not made a transition to modernity, but steeped in traditions all their life. Only Hindus and Muslims wear traditional dress for work and business.

Here in India people like variety. You will see the dress code you desire and then next day Salwar Kameez and then next to next day sari and the cycle continues with more shades. Yeah if there is some rule for a dress code then everyone adheres to it.

I have so many reasons to call him what i have called him, i do not have to prove anything to you or to anyone else. But since you have asked, let me tell you the main reason, What would you call a person who as Prime Minister of a country says that only one section of the population, muslims should have the first claim to the country's resourses?

He is not a disgrace as an individual, but disgrace for what he reprsents, a backdoor entrant to the office of Prime Minister in a democratic country. In spite of being prime minister for past five years and boasts about good work done by him, he could not gather courage to fight even in these elections but chose to hide behind a technical loophole in the constitution.

I think i have answered both of your questions. But knowing your nature, can i now please request you to spare me your further preachings regarding Manmohan Singh? You and so many others might hold a very high opinion of him but i do not. Still if my calling him an idiot or a disgrace has caused you or anyone else some hurt, i am sorry but my views about him remains the same.
