The fashionable charges of sexual offending have now reached no less than Tariq Ramadan
Students at the Oxford Middle East Centre have reacted in anger to the University’s response to the mounting accusations of rape against Islamic professor Tariq Ramadan, accusing senior figures of acting “as if nothing had happened”.

Ramadan is currently being investigated by French authorities over two allegations of rape, sexual assault, violence and harassment. Ramadan has described the allegations as a “campaign of lies” and said he is suing the alleged victims for “slander”.

This article is concerned mainly with his continuing to teach after being accused. More about the actual allegations may be found on Jihadwatch.EDIT: Gates of Vienna. Sorry.

His troubles continue...
Oxford University has been condemned for allowing a professor to carry on teaching after being accused of rape. A fellow tutor was criticised for suggesting that the cautious response was justified by the suspect’s status as a “prominent Muslim”.

Tariq Ramadan, a contemporary Islamic studies professor, is being investigated by French police after he was accused by two women in France of rape and by a third of sexual assault. After they contacted police, four Swiss women came forward to say that he had made sexual advances towards them.

Since the first allegation of rape surfaced almost three weeks ago, the professor has carried on teaching at Oxford. A “leave of absence” was announced last night.

He denies all the accusations and has called them…[paywall here](my emphases)
