Such a conclusion is of course eminently sensible if one accepts the false premise of the "Demographic Timebomb" which is itself based on the false premise that the capacity of a country like Britain to support its elderly population is primarily determined by the numerical ratio of "younger workers" to older retired people.

The "Demographic Timebomb" fallacy - or rather BIG LIE - has, as in this instance, been seized upon by "progressives" to lend support to their own pet project of uncontrolled immigration. However, it was in fact conceived by the political right in order to justify depriving old people of their pensions and benefit entitlements, social and health services - particularly in the field of caring for those suffering from Dementia. There IS a Demographic Timebomb in the sense of a growing total human world population making ever more unsustainable demands on the planet's finite carrying capacity. If we accept the BIG LIE we are led to the conclusion that a country like Britain, and therefore the world as a whole, requires an EVER-EXPANDING population as each generation of "younger workers" on retirement requires an EVEN LARGER population of "younger workers" to support them than the one before. That is manifestly absurd!

Agreed - definitely a Ponzi scheme. Immigrants pouring in, very few of whom work and the vast majority of whom will be on the dole as soon as their feet hit UK soil.

At least Australia has got the right idea. IIRC, you need to have lived there for at least two years before you are eligible for welfare. Good stuff. It should probably be longer than two years, but that is a start.

If I were the Aussie PM, I would get the navy to tow every one of those boats back to Indonesia. You probably wouldn't even need a frigate to do that - a few offshore patrol-boats and a few tugs would do the job. After a couple of dozen have been towed back, I'm sure they would get the message.

Aussie has every right to keep queue-jumpers out, but they are doing abysmally at that at present.

When refugees with no profession which is in demand are allowed to immigrate they should be placed in compounds and fed like in an institution, not just given cash because they might just send it to the terrorists and let their kids pretend its Ramadan all the time. There should be language training and religious tolerance training. They can't be let out until they say "members of other religions have the same rights as me, no more no less". That's the mindset which western countries strive to make a reality. Anyone who doesn't want equal rights for all citizens is simply not a suitable immigrant, even as a refugee. Do you have to let refugees in if you know they actually have no intention of adopting democratic ways of life? They wouldn't make very good citizens with that mindset so why try to stuff a square peg in a round hole?
