Ayatollah issues fatwa on Iranian rapper

Germany-based rapper's latest single earns him death sentence. Song deemed offensive towards revered tenth Imam for Shiites
Ynet

A senior Iranian cleric has issued a Fatwa on a Germany-based Iranian rapper for insulting Islam, the Fars news agency reported Wednesday.

Persian-language Al Arabiya reported, that the latest single from Shahin Najafi, "Naqi," has earned him a death sentence from Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani, a Shiite cleric in the Iranian city of Qom.

The song has drawn sharp anger from protesters who believe it is offensive towards Imam Naqi, the revered tenth Imam for Shiites.

Al-Arabiya reported that a pro-regime website has launched an online campaign calling to hang Najafi and proclaim him a heretic. The campaign calls all Shiites and Muslims in general to find the rapper and "send him to hell."

Najafi, 31, was forced to move to Germany when his politically-motivated lyrics for an underground band he was associated in Iran, earned him a ban.

His songs mostly deal with issues such as theocracy, poverty, sexism, censorship, child labor, execution and drug addiction. He strives to use poetic, literary, philosophical and political elements in his music.

This article would have been better if it had quoted at least a small amount of his actual lyrics.

The very fact that a person is in danger for expressing himself is enough information. That fact alone should outrage any sensible person.

But then maybe if you saw the lyrics you might be inclined to refer to the rapper as a "bigot".

I disagree.

It shouldn't matter at all. This reminds me of muslims everywhere foaming at the mouth over Salman Rushdie's book or the cartoons. Muslims are going to be crybabies no matter what people say or do. They will use any excuse to intimidate and impose islamic law to whatever extent they can.

I would be more inclined to up the ante and say more offensive things about their prophet, irrespective of what the lyrics of some rapper may be.

Thank you.

I should have mentioned Geert Wilders as well, whom one poster in this thread has previously called a "bigot".

Apparently in her eyes, anybody who is insufficiently subservient to muslims' sensibilities is a "bigot". Anybody who has nothing good to say about islam is a "bigot" (her words).

From her enquiry into the rapper's lyrics, it appeared to me that she wanted to go there with him and perhaps censor him as well.

Now I see that a Shia imam has put a 60,000 pound sterling bounty on this rapper's head.

That's why any sensible person would prefer that muslims fight and kill each other.

Where does it say in the Quran "obey Allah, the Messenger and some jackasses who will live in the 21st century". How does the dictatorship transfer from Muhammad/Allah to anonymous Arabs? Is it "I'm an Arab too so I must also be obeyed"? I really don't think taking orders from Arabs is a wise choice.

The Iranians are pussies. They have been taking orders from the Arabs fro 1400 years, as have the Pakistanis, Indonesians, and now even politically correct westerners.

Very simple:

It's 21st century jackasses who are obeying whoremaster allah & his manwhore messenger.

Remember, moron allah only understands Arabic, so we need to come anonymous Arabs to communicate with those 21st century jackasses.
