Posting without losing Colour and Bold formatting etc

Postby Yousef » Thu Jun 15, 2017 2:33 pm

Hey there, I wanted to post some data on here which has alot of bold and colour fommatting in it. Is there any way this can be pasted from word where it retains its formatting, i.e. bold, underline, italics and different colours. There is a lot of it and to re-do it all in not really an option

Does this forum not have the option like some emails where all the formatting and colour is retained in some html box or something? pardon me I am not highly IT Literate.

Please advise, many thanks.

Many thanks.

Hi, in html things like bold or a colour are set by "tags", e.g. <b> means "bold" and "</b> bold is finished.

On a board, we have " BBC "tags, which are similar but different. There are tools on the internet that take html pages and convert them to forum posts:

http://www.odditysoftware.com/page-webtools15.htm

You can copy the RAW HTML, with all the tags, into the box, and you get the equivalent forum output.

Here are some more
http://www.bbcode-to-html.com/
https://www.browserling.com/tools/bbcode-to-html

I am sure you can find similar.

If you have a WORD document, you need to save it as an HTM file. (a web page) Then you open it in a TEXT editor, such as NOTEPAD, not word.

Select all, copy, paste it on one of the links I gave, and you get an equivalent version suitable for posting on a forum.

I hope this helps.
