The Quran Collection

This section of the forum is NOT for discussions. It is a database of documents, websites, books and other resources, to provide skeptics with the materials to compose their articles refuting Islam. Please place your links in the appropriate thread. If your material needs a new thread, please advise me first. We do not want to clutter this DB with too many threads that may be similar. Do not copy and paste. Give full references and make sure the source is reliable. If you want to rebut any of the documents posted here, use another thread in other sections of the forum.

The Quran Collection

Postby TheRationalizer » Thu May 16, 2013 10:54 am

Hi guys

This is the website I have been working on for the past few weeks
http://www.TheQuranCollection.com

The idea is to make it almost impossible for someone to read the Quran without it being easy to read classical tafsirs and relevant hadiths for any given verse. This also includes a word-by-word break down of the Arabic so that it is possible to see where else the same word is used and in what context.

And now to the point, because I want something :)

The hadiths have been scanned and software has converted them into text. There are quite a few places where a verse is referenced using Roman numerals but the software has confused an uppercase i with a lower case L so a verse reference is incorrect; sometimes you will see (I G) instead of (16) so a verse reference is missing; and sometimes the hadith relates to a verse but doesn't mention it at all.

There are currently 11 hadith collections on the site. This is far too many hadiths for one person to read. What I need is a small army of people to read through them, email errors, email suggestions of missing or erroneous verse links, or even suggest relevant links. As all of this text is authentic Islamic writing I think this is going to be an excellent resource for anyone with even a passing interest in Islam and the Quran.

You can contribute even without any knowledge. Just do things like check the Roman numerals have been linked to the correct verse. Find verses which are quoted (e.g. "No compulsion in religion") but not linked. For the more knowledgeable if you spot a hadith which is of relevance to a verse but not linked or even mentioned in the hadith then send that along.

Please could you do all you can to help to make this a successful project by requesting help to cross reference the data and clean up any scan errors? All you have to do is to choose a random section of hadiths, read them, and if you spot anything then click the "Report missing link / error" link at the bottom of the page it is on.

Thanks

Muslims are so secure in their faith that they need to kill those who don’t share it.

The site looks great.

Did you import the word by word break down from corpus.quran.com? If so, I have no doubt that it's useful, but I wouldn't entirely trust its accuracy. They used to translate Qur'an 4:34 as "separate from them", rather than "beat them".

Apparently this site has moved to http://www.quranx.com/

And the original poster (likely) has an ongoing blog here: http://therationaliser.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-quran-collection.html
