A song from Indonesia

This is by an American ex-pat who has lived in Indonesia for many years and has an Indonesian husband. While Indonesia officially describes itself as "bhineka tunggal ika" (culturally diverse) this little clip was highly risky, specially because she lives in Java. She chose English as a medium, even though she is perfectly fluent in Indonesian, maybe as a protection measure.

There is an Indonesian asking for a translation, suggesting that despite of generally good English language skills in Indonesia, songs are still difficult.

One wrote "saya kehina bule gak jelas´╗┐" "I am insulted, the white woman is not clear." He understood enough to be "insulted" but obviously he did not get the whole thing, otherwise the knives would come out...

She can better move to the US again. Indonesia is becoming more and more a conservative Muslim country. I hope she will be alright.
