conspiracies in Islam

Nobody on this board could have missed Muslims' fondness of conspiracy theories, specially those involving Jews. When there is a terror attack with "Allah akhbar" we get told it was the Israeli secret service or whatever, when people criticise Islam, they get asked how much Israel pays them, and respectable news reports are branded as fake without providing any evidence, as we have seen on the 9/11 attack, for example.

So what is it that get Muslims quite so ready to accept conspiracies, often at zero evidence?

Mohammed himself displayed this tendency... he was quite paranoid about "traitors" and "critics", and had people executed for little more that a joky poem.

What does it say about people if they routinely opt for conspiracy theories?
