That is the possibility. If someone says: "It was Aliens who took Muhammad with their UFO for travel" I would not be able to say no. But the Qur'an does not mentioned Jerussalem though, can be any place.

God is not a physiacal being who resides somehere in space, that is logic, there is no need for physical travel.
Btw, there is no Buraq in the Qur'an, that name and description came from hadith.
