DoS attack on FFI?Is there a DOS denial of service attack on FFI? It seems to be off line lately.

Re: DoS attack on FFI?I am not sure PR. I wish someone would tell us what the problems are. I have send mails to expozislam, and he has not answered me back. I do not even know if he is still our webmaster. I have not seen nor heard from him for 6 or 7 weeks.
The only thing I do not wish is the Ali is taking care of the site. He may be a great man, but I do not trust him with the site. We all know what happened the other two times when he “took care “of the site. It would be nice though, if someone would at least fill in the moderators. I feel neglected and disrespected. ![]()
Re: DoS attack on FFI?I think it is best to contact the ISP who maintains the servers [if that is possible], as they can diagnose any problems instantly.
It is their responsibility, and only they can correct the problem, not the webmaster. . "Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don’t throw them at me." - Wafa Sultan
Re: DoS attack on FFI?that would be a second day, the site was inactive.

Re: DoS attack on FFI?good to see the site back up today - it's been kinda spooky having it down as the sep11 anniversary approaches

is it back or are we to experience another break? “the problem with Islamophobia is that it gets in the way of jihad.” Robert Spencer

Re: DoS attack on FFI?
It seems it is no Doss Attack
Also nice to know we have got a new webmaster...Jonathan Harrell is the creator freedom bulwark and webmaster of FFI and other websites.
Re: DoS attack on FFI?I thought it was a DoS attack too.
It would be good in future if advance notice could be given of any upgrades. That would stop us wondering what has happened. ( Hopefully the server admins read this. ) I don't remember seeing any notices about this upgrade (but I may be wrong). - enceladus “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.”

Re: DoS attack on FFI?Strange that for a server there is just a 750 GB hard drive.
I have a home PC with 4 TB hard disk space. ( 1 TB external HDD for automated backup alone.) Hard drives are quite cheap now. Backups should be on a separate hard disk, not on the same one as the server. If the server HDD breaks, good bye to all the data too. Perhaps you can give them some assistance ?
Re: DoS attack on FFI?I don't think I can. On the software / programming side I have no experience at all, as for hardware, I am in the UK.
What I don't understand, is how come we have only a 750 GB hard disk? Isn't the forum on a commercial host server? "Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don’t throw them at me." - Wafa Sultan
Re: DoS attack on FFI?
A shame.... But expozislam is also in the UK. I wish I knew why he left us.
I can't help you with this question pr. But you can ask this question to our webmaster.
Re: DoS attack on FFI?
I build servers. 750g is actually massive for a server like this, and probably not actually needed. What helps a server most is Memory, not hard drive space. Also, having a 15,000 RPM hard disc drive is important, as long as they are stable enough to handle the heat generated.

Maybe you should explain to the webmaster where he is going wrong, and why he needs more RAM when he is running out of disk space? "Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don’t throw them at me." - Wafa Sultan
Re: DoS attack on FFI?
Actually the problem is obvious. They are using the same hard drive as a backup as the one they are using for the server. Not wise at all, and quite frankly, very unprofessional let alone dangerous. That ... was unexpected.
Re: DoS attack on FFI?Quite possibly this would be the same hard disk that FFI started out with all those years ago?
Murphy's Law? Surprising when a 1TB internal hard-disk is about $50.00 or less. "Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don’t throw them at me." - Wafa Sultan
