DoS attack on FFI?

Postby pr126 » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:13 pm

Is there a DOS denial of service attack on FFI? It seems to be off line lately.
Any wrong doers sabotaging the works? >(

I am not sure PR. I wish someone would tell us what the problems are. I have send mails to expozislam, and he has not answered me back. I do not even know if he is still our webmaster. I have not seen nor heard from him for 6 or 7 weeks.
The only thing I do not wish is the Ali is taking care of the site. :ermm: He may be a great man, but I do not trust him with the site. We all know what happened the other two times when he “took care “of the site.

It would be nice though, if someone would at least fill in the moderators. I feel neglected and disrespected.

I think it is best to contact the ISP who maintains the servers [if that is possible], as they can diagnose any problems instantly.
It is their responsibility, and only they can correct the problem, not the webmaster.

It seems it is no Doss Attack

Hi, we recently updated our server. We’re still working on some issues. All the websites will be back soon.

Also we are redesigning faithfreedom.org so that it can become more user friendly. Please drop some comments and tell us how can we improve the features and experience of the websites.

We’re looking for Volunteers

If you can help us from technical side, please contact us.

 Also nice to know we have got a new webmaster...

I thought it was a DoS attack too.

It would be good in future if advance notice could be given of any upgrades. That would stop us wondering what has happened. ( Hopefully the server admins read this. )

I don't remember seeing any notices about this upgrade (but I may be wrong).

Latest update of our new webmaster.

Right now, our 750 GB hard drive is full. We’re trying to free some disk space so that the softwares on server can get enough room so that they can start running. We have no video files in our server. Our database is huge. We have more than 10 to 15 active forums and many more inactive. We have total 43 mini and large websites.

And also thousands of HTML pages. The backups of these files are very large. This is the issue right now.

Right, now we have managed to free some space to give room to the server to run. We got a lot bigger than what we thought

I believe we need more powerful cloud servers to meet our needs in future.

Strange that for a server there is just a 750 GB hard drive.
I have a home PC with 4 TB hard disk space. ( 1 TB external HDD for automated backup alone.)

Hard drives are quite cheap now.
Backups should be on a separate hard disk, not on the same one as the server. If the server HDD breaks, good bye to all the data too.

I don't think I can. On the software / programming side I have no experience at all, as for hardware, I am in the UK.

What I don't understand, is how come we have only a 750 GB hard disk? Isn't the forum on a commercial host server?

I build servers. 750g is actually massive for a server like this, and probably not actually needed. What helps a server most is Memory, not hard drive space. Also, having a 15,000 RPM hard disc drive is important, as long as they are stable enough to handle the heat generated.

Maybe you should explain to the webmaster where he is going wrong, and why he needs more RAM when he is running out of disk space?

Actually the problem is obvious. They are using the same hard drive as a backup as the one they are using for the server.

Not wise at all, and quite frankly, very unprofessional let alone dangerous. That ... was unexpected.

Quite possibly this would be the same hard disk that FFI started out with all those years ago?

Murphy's Law?

Surprising when a 1TB internal hard-disk is about $50.00 or less.
