"Iron Flier": Entire koran as background image...

Postby diovaeid » Sun Jun 19, 2016 3:14 am

Attached is the entire koran(*) on a single side of US Letter paper. Printed on a relatively cruddy laser printer the individual characters are not at all hard to read with a 3x magnifying glass. The idea is to use it as a flyer background, with event information overlayed (with transparency so text below is still at least barely legible). Perhaps along with an image such as Charlie Hebdo's tearful Muhammad.

Idea is that flyers get vandalized / trashed a lot, this might at least make doing that a bit more difficult, as as far as I can tell a koran is defined as anything with the complete Arabic text of the koran. (Can anyone confirm?)

So each flyer would have to be treated in the appropriate ceremonial fashion by the type of people liable to commit vandalism, somewhat evening out time commitments.

(*) If someone who can read Arabic wants to check the very end to make sure I didn't truncate anything it'd be appreciated.

I can also upload some other versions (different fonts etc) and the source (Adobe InDesign - other stuff just crashed) if anyone is interested.

An interesting enterprise. Might it be better though centred in an A3 poster with some indication that it is indeed a Koran? Otherwise the poor Muslims might trash it without realising and find themselves in hell as a consequence!
I'm not sure of the theology - is a Koran still a Koran once an infidel has had his evil way with it?

Well that is certainly too tiny for me to read. I had to use the zoom function to see it. I think that is a neat idea, but it mostly looks like black ink overkill.

Here is one clue how the Quran was compressed into one page.

- sura: When the sun come in the morning (*)
- sura: When the stars shine (*)
- sura: When the water falls from the sky (*)
- sura: when the birds sing (*)
- sura: The earth is flat (*)

(*) Allah the Merciful and knowing all. Praise Allah and obey his messenger.

Perhaps adding a somewhat large text transparent overlay of "القرآن الكريم: The Noble Quran" might benefit this idea.
