Hi all -

I've just found an excellent site that is a really good resource to point "newcomers" to (those who are not at all familiar with Islam). Here it is -

http://www.inquiryintoislam.com/

Quote from the creators of the site -
"AFTER 9/11, lots of things were said about Islam, some of them contradictory, and many of them by people with believable credentials. My spouse and I didn't know what to think, so we started looking into it. We read lots of materials — pro-Islam books, anti-Islam books, and classic Islamic doctrines, like the Quran. We've been on an eight-year learning binge."

They link to a couple of annotated translations of the Koran - one stripped of the endless repetition - that sound interesting. Especially as they are assembled in chronological order instead of that totally mindless order by chapter length. Well, maybe not mindless - it could have been done deliberately to confuse.
