Depressing Iranian pop from the 70s and beyond

Got into this stuff while watching pro-Iranian protest clips back in the day, then Googling "Yare Dabestani" (which was a sort of protest anthem,) then following youtube links that lead me to this gorgeous, incredible stuff. Enjoy :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI5oE83NIqw" onclick...

Re: What's the Point/Purpose of Humanism, for Atheist?

4:36. Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding ...

Re: The seed of doubt, and the flower of apostasy

Just saying, if you as a Christian justify or choose to ignore any of the above, then fine, whatever. But if your intention is to illuminate Muslims as to why Islam is misogynistic, then stick to reasonable arguments based on logic and human values, because defences go way up when Muslims hear you s...

Re: The seed of doubt, and the flower of apostasy

Hey, why must so many on this site bring up Christianity when arguing against Islam? You think it's any less misogynistic or disrespectful of women? You want to shake up the Muslims on here until they see the light and mercy of Jeeeezus! Who are you kidding, isn't it enough to argue that humans shou...

Re: Is any of this inaccurate?

Whatever bull it comes in, it's still crap. The Bible (old and new testaments) are disgusting, bloody and violent books. What makes Christianity more tolerable than Islam is that fewer Christians actually read the Bible.

I don't need to show you anything. All I got is that Smiths lyric coming to my head that goes: "I was bored before I even began."

Re: How many of you are ex-muslims ? Please say hello here

If you want ex, I'm plenty of those: ex-Catholic, ex-Atheist and now ex-Muslim too :P What do you mean by ex-atheist ? PS welcome When I started questioning Christianity in my teens, I just lost faith in God altogether and I was an atheist for many years. Islam made me believe in God again and in h...

Re: The Lives Of German Salafists' Wives

Reyhana looks forward to having her own house in paradise. The first floor, she says, will be filled with makeup, and on the second floor she'll have a never-ending selection of clothes to wear. Forsake the shallow, materialistic pleasures of this dunya, and you will be rewarded with shallow, mater...

Rumi and Hafiz on women?

What did Rumi and Hafiz think of women?

One of the essays here said they had some not so favourable opinions, but I can't find any such quotes online.

Aisha was 9 when her marriage was consumated, though I've no idea how old she was when Sawda got threatened with divorce and gave up her night.

Yes, I've already left Islam. A week ago or so, I think.

Re: Thinking of converting? PLEASE read this.

I was talking about how some Western converts grew up as Christians, and then they stopped believing in Christianity and then later they converted to Islam because they thought Islam was the truth... I've seen it happen many times. Happened to me, too.

Both those religions are BS, of course.

Re: The seed of doubt, and the flower of apostasy

that's beat to advise (not to punish) When you advise someone, it means you're giving them your opinion. There are two options and you think personally that one is better than another -- for example, you think koshari tastes better without onions, so you tell your wife that she should try it that w...

Thinking of converting? PLEASE read this.

I know what you're thinking... I'm a bitter woman who had a bad experience with a Muslim man, and now I want to spew my venom all over Islam just because I was mistreated. Or perhaps I'm a European right-winger who fears that more people will convert to Islam, and help spread it on the continent and...

Re: Ex Muslims please let me understand your logic

I think if I cant believe the main facts of Islam then its not possible to believe the matters of other religions . I'd agree, at least when it comes to the Abrahamic religions. If you trade in Islam for Christianity or Judaism, you're just eating up the same crap on a different plate. Though the l...

Ex-Muslims: what was the LAST straw?

When I read about the unfortunate case of Sawda bint Zama, one of the prophet's wives that Allah in his mercy had created to be old, fat and undesirable, I felt as if I wanted to just slam the door and never look back, never grieve over what I "lost" or wonder whether I could maybe get it ...
